#6 Japanese Moleskine Party Time (full)

    and we are full

Just had to get in on the Moleskine exchange rage! I keep missing the signups so thought I would start my own party – anyone want to join? This will be an 8-player, open medium swap – keep in mind these are not chunky pages – but flat – no danglie bits.

    ************************************************** *********
this swap requires a huge amount of your time – there will be no withdrawls once you are accepted into the circle. Be very sure you are ready to take this on both in time and money – you will be looking at an 8 mth commitment.
you will need a Japanese Album Pocket Moleskine, you can find them at http://www.amazon.com/Moleskine-Japa...3706515&sr=8-1 and also at http://www.moleskineus.com/japanesebook.html

    ************************************************** ************
The rules that will keep us all happy <G>
    • You Promise that you will see this thru to the end – no flaking allowed!
    • You must be an actively trading member (defined as: positive iTrader across 2 swaps in the last 3 months)
    • You must have 3+ months in good standing (no neutrals or negative iTraders)
    • You have an iTrader rating of 25+
    • You are willing and able to do your very best work
    • you will mail on time – the 1st of each month.
    • You must ship eight journals around the world using MANDATORY tracking/Delivery Confirmation – no media mail
    • If something unforseen (major major stuff not just getting behind) you are willing to send the journal ahead and have it come back at the end when you are able to work on it - this will only be allowed on a trail by trail basis.
    • you are willing to share your mailing info, a phone number and list a contact person - this is to be sure no journals go MIA - info will only be shared with your fellow circle members - it's truely Heartbreaking when a journal is lost forever due to a member going MIA.

    ************************************************** ***********
purchase your moleys,- they are appox. 3.5”x5.5” – pick out a theme - fill out and decorate the first non-accordian pages with your name, address, and travel plan - You may decorate the cover or not - Then, the first 3 pages are all yours - This is a good time to establish your theme and color scheme – this will give your fellow artist a better sense of your theme .
you will create a four page layout in each journal you receive – Please do only your very best work

Optional – include a little something extra in the back pocket of the journal for the artist working on your journal – this can be a bit of pretty fiber, or art paper - atc– signurture card- small charm – bookmark – what ever catches your fancy - This is just for fun – some of members want to play, but no pressure on anyone to participate

    ************************************************** ***********
remember to mail on TIME and use first class mail with Mandatory tracking/delivery Confirmations - use a well padded bubble envie, sturdy box or a small Flat Rate Box - for $4.95 to anywhere in the US, at any weight up to 70 lbs., Priority Mail shipping takes just 2-3 days, in the USA.
After you mail post to the thread that you have mailed and post the tracking/delivery confirmations.

For eyecandy check out the gallerys here and there are several groups at flickr
    (links to come)

so if you are up for all those rules and ready to party - pm me or post here in the thread - PLEASE read over the above carefully before signing up. Then get ready for the big art party moleskine blowout

    Participants and themes:

    1. Goatgoddess
    *My theme is: birds
*What I'm hoping for: a colorful book full of birds and related subjects-feel free to add quotes or what ever moves you.
    *Key concepts:
*Color scheme: what ever moves you.

    2. JoyFlower
*My theme is: Roots and Wings
*What I'm hoping for: That you have fun - would love for the work to flow from one artist to the next...maybe leave a tiny corner of the last page you work on for the next artist to carry on from...
*Key concepts: Explore what the theme means to you - either literally or figuratively and illustrate it. Show the contrast between roots and wings, or the need for both.
*Color scheme: Whatever feels right to you.

    3. ElectaBlue
*My theme is: Elephants on parade
*What I'm hoping for: I am just really loving elephants lately and it would be cool to have them on a big parade that folds out the length of the book.
*Key concepts: whimsical elephants, or dark elephants, not necessarily realistic (but they could be). Throw in a few glitter goats, if you feel the spirit
*Color scheme: I am thinking bright colors (including electric blue)

I really like children's illustration type art like these.

I also really like the Ganesh type elephants, but I don't know how easy those would be to integrate in a parade.

    4. lilbad
*My theme is: sheep, Anything Ireland, quirky houses or trees, iris flowers
*What I'm hoping for: no dark or Satanic. Have fun
    *Key concepts:
*Color scheme: love color, but blues are my fav

    5. malicea10
*My theme is: Nature, sea life, animals, flowers, trees, birds
    *What I'm hoping for:

    6. curbsidetreasure

*What I'm hoping for: make it wacky, fantastical, dreamlike, cheerful, put your own style/spin to it! i definitely don't mind if you use john tenniel or arthur rackhams' illlustrations just be creative with it.
(i don't think i have to say this but just in case: no disney imagery). most of all have fun! I'd love it if you incorporate words from the book.
*Key concepts: alice, the mad tea party, any and all characters in the book

I wouldn't mind people using their own paper, whatever they are comfortable with and pasting it in...also feel free to gesso, or whatever...completely open to the medium you are happy with for my journal.

LOVE the group taking form here!

Can we start choosing our themes? (I stole this format from another thread!)
    1. My theme is: Roots and Wings
    2. What I'm hoping for: That you have fun - would love for the work to flow from one artist to the next...maybe leave a tiny corner of the last page you work on for the next artist to carry on from...
    3. Key concepts: Explore what the theme means to you - either literally or figuratively and illustrate it. Show the contrast between roots and wings, or the need for both.
    4. Color scheme: Whatever feels right to you.
