So - who is joining us for inky printing fun on Oct 18th? We'll be cutting printing blocks from cardboard so everyone should bring a sharp cutting tool and outline images to cut.

I'm wondering if chipboard cut outs could be used and then I could skip the tedious cutting part!?!

Sure, I don't see why not. The CPS article said you can use textured pieces to create patterns within the image. I was thinking of using some fabric in mine.

I still do not have my schedule for the 18th, but if I can make it what kind of images do I need? I'm not exactly clear on what we are doing I guess.

Supposedly, we will cut a cardboard image with an exacto knife and use it as a printing block. I believe these blocks are normally sealed with varnish, but we may not have time to do that. I'm leaning toward bringing my chipboard alphabet and making a text printing block.

Anyone interested in a Christmas card workshop at the Southport Archiver's should join Lisa and I there on Oct 21st at 6PM. It's four cards with diecuts and embossing and I think Angel Glimmer Mist. Two of our fun coworkers will also be there.
The cost is $15 and you have to reserve a spot: 780-7651.

The instructions in CPS suggests using a matte medium. I hadn't thought too much about how long it might take to dry. What if we used craft foam instead of cardboard? We can make two -- one with cardboard sealed with matte medium to take home and use later, and a second one made of craft foam pieces to make some same day prints. ???

I'd really like to take this, but how much $$$?

Does the matte medium just seal the cardboard so the ink/paint doesn't soak in? Can we use heat guns to speed drying? Should I bring fun foam?

Really, I had decided to use precut cardboard shapes, since I don't feel my carving skills to be good enough.

    It's $15 - 4 cute cards - 2 hours of fun.

And you can use your 30% off coupon toward the cost of the class if you have one.

I checked my schedule and I am teaching the class that night!

Yes, I think the matte medium is meant to seal the cardboard so the ink doesn't soak in. I will experiment and see how long it takes to dry.

I have plenty of fun foam (somewhere), but if you have some handy go ahead and bring it along.

Janet, I don't think you need to worry about your carving skills. You should be able to use scissors to cut the cardboard if you want. I think using chipboard is a good idea, too.

I have an out of town guest coming in so I'll need to double check our schedule to see if we're already booked -- lol

Hope to see some of you at crazycat's tomorrow!

I have my supplies about half gathered - what should I bring crazycat?

    here's what I'm thinking:
    chipboard for bases
    thinner cardboard for cutting
    image ideas
    precut chipboard shapes (for cheating)
    Exacto knife
    spray glue
    spray varnish
    gel medium
    big paintbrush
    heatgun
    acrylic paint
    stamp pads
    card stock to print on
    snack
