I want to do this, but can't decide which to do. Maybe sign me up for six cards and I will let you know if I change my mind. But I definitely want to try.

Welcome, clutterkatie! I'll put you in both groups. I think the mixed media collage is the most challenging. I make all my own elements for my collages. One of the challenges is having a dark background while creating that gaseous, transparent quality of a nebula. I'm still working on an answer.

I am seeing what you mean about the difficulty of transparency,
so far I've done markers topped with liquid glass, that seems to help add some
depth but I can see there's LOTS of room for experimentation to get that exact
look. Very fun and challenging for sure!

I agree that this takes lots of experimentation. Here are my two latest mixed media collages. I used papers, alcohol ink, & metallic Sharpie. I think I'm getting closer to the image in my head.

those are beautiful!

I played last night with a few ideas, looked at nebula images online for inspiration...
here's one of my first attempts, these are so much fun I think I might do a whole bunch
and then choose which to send into the swap.

Welcome, chatty & catPratt!

I think creating nebulas may be addictive! I'm pretty sure that watercolor would be the best medium for the effect I want to create, but I hate to paint.

i'm going out on a limb here, but both areas are calling and since there is an infinite number of nebulae around here i want to join both groups.

after experimenting here's one I decided would be a keeper...
at least for now. I kicked my first 4 attempts to the curb after making this one.
And wow, these are sooo addictive, the images online when I google nebula
are absolutely stunning. The cosmos is so inspiring.

I had ordered some copic markers, was going to give those a try
with this theme, thinking they would blend nicely, etc. but alas, FedEx LOST my package! argh. how come the first time they lose a package they lose something I want so desperately bad this very minute?
oh well, for now I shall dink around and experiment using my what-feel-like-lame-other art supplies.
