Well, I liked it. Didn't love it. Spent the whole movie being outraged with Walter's behavior. We love John Goodman in St Louis, since he's a hometown boy (and proud of it!). Seeing him act like an idiot got me wound up, but I suppose that means he did a great job of it.

However, I do have an idea for 4 cards, so I suppose I will sign up.

I'm glad you liked it, GMS! Love at first sight is probably too much to hope for with this movie. I didn't go gaga until I saw it for the second time, when my husband pointed out that it is basically a classic hard-boiled detective story with a soft-boiled, drug-addled, accidental detective swapped in for the no-nonsense "hero." I loved that idea, and after that, we probably saw it six times.

My interest was revived a couple of years ago by an article in Rolling Stone, which mentioned the idea that the film serves as a critique of different models of masculinity, with Walter as a comment on the "war hero." After reading that, I totally had to watch it again, which inflamed my passions all the more. We quote the movie a LOT in our house!

I understand completely! We are always quoting RHPS, Clue, Zoolander and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. The sillier the movie, the better at our house.

I just made the backgrounds for these while watching Duck Tales. I'm about to start drawing their wee bodies.

Just did the following three things:
    (1) Paused to lick screen over faeriefungus' new avatar
    (2) Added Lebowski to the top of the netflix list
    (3) Added "Lebowski" to the dictionary on the mac so I don't have to see the damn word spellchecked every time I type it

    Okay, a couple more things:
    (4) Marveled, yet again at how the word "spellcheck" is not in the spellcheck dictionary
    (5) Leaving to dust computer screen with something besides my tongue...
