LIST: 1-1 page trades for your journals - The Happy Bookers

    Happy Bookers Page Trades List

NOTE: This is a list thread, so please post listings only.

This thread will let everyone have the fun of creating a circle journal without the timetable of mailings that cj groups follow. If you are already in a circle journal group, you can get extra pages for your journals easily, as well, by signing on to accept pages from traders not part of your circle group. If you are not in a cj group, consider joining one to fill your journal faster!

    How’s the swap work?

It works as a clearinghouse - rather like an online dating service! You create your ‘ad’ listing your journal and what you want. Others read your ad and contact you to arrange a trade. The two of you work out the details any way you wish and you’re in business!

    Here’s what you do:
    1. Prepare your ‘ad’ for the swap thread.
    2. Consider what you want or don’t want in your journal.
    - Are there any art techniques you want to encourage - or exclude?
    - Are you open to art that is openly religious, edgy, suggestive, political, or irreverent?
    3. Note pertinent info: theme, size of page, number of pages per artist, your country (so swappers can check postage costs).
    4. Decide whether you are willing to accept an international trade or want to keep the mailings within your own country only.
    5. Then, just post your ‘ad’ here as an invitation to other artists to trade pages with you!

    Then what?
Everyone is free to browse the ad listings. When you find one that interests you, send a private message to the person and arrange the trade details between the two of you, just as you would for any 1-1 trade. That’s all there is to it!

Not sure how to word your listing?
    Here’s a sample:
    Jean: Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
    Theme: Rain
Details: 8x8 journal, 2-page spread per artist (1 of them to include artist info)
Accepting: All techniques, as long as original work neatly done, and INTERNATIONAL trades
Not accepting: work that is religious, political, edgy.
Comments: I love the rain...golden windows on a grey rainy day...wet streets....puddle reflections. I love to see people hurrying by with umbrellas or huddled in doorways to get out of the rain. I want my journal to be a beautiful celebration of rainy days!
What I can do in return: I love collage, watercolour and drawing. Check my gallery for samples of my work.”

So, what are you waiting for? Post your journal and invite artists to trade pages with you!

    Got Questions? Just pm me!

Theme 1: dragonflies in a flower garden

Details: 8x8, 2 page spread, artist info on back of one page. I'd like the dragonlies to be the mail focus of the pages, you can add anything else you like, fairies or whatever, as long as they aren't the main focus.

Accepting: Collage or hand drawn, or a combination of mediums. Your choice.

    Theme 2: asian/oriental

Details: 8x8, 2 page spread, artist info on back.

Accepting: I usually prefer a vintage look, and would most prefer collage on this one.

Not Accepting: religious, political, porn, withcraft, goth, or anything dark.

Work I can do in return: Hand drawn with penicl, or marker, some watercolor, collage, or a mix of the those.
I will not do religious, politicl, porn, goth or withcraft.

Not accepting: work that is religious, political, edgy.

    Current as of 9/24/13

I've been inspired to start two journals:

1: THEME: Religion, Philosophy and Spirituality
2: DO'S: What inspires you about your faith? What intrigues you about someone else's? I'm collecting pages on spirituality from both the insider's and outsider's perspective. That means atheists are welcome to - if you have a non-theistic philosophy that inspires you, tell me about it! (Or, 'art me about it', anyway.)
    3. DON'TS: Prosthelytize. I want to know what inspires you about your beliefs, not what's wrong with someone else's, so positive or neutral messages only, please. Chunky is good, but don't go crazy with the danglies. (Smaller pages will probably be mounted by a "hinge" on one side - to keep the back available - to an 8" x 10" sheet, so the smaller the page, the more room for things hanging off of the edge.)
4: LOCATION FOR MAILING: Eureka, CA
5: SIZE: Any up to 8" x 10". Please finish the backs (not necessarily a second page of art, but presentable - they will not be mounted in sleeves, so the backs will be visible.) Will trade like for like, size-wise, or several smaller pieces for one big one.
    6. MEDIUM: Hand drawn, painted, mixed media. (Collage is also a possibility on a case-by-case basis. I'm kinda picky in my taste when it comes to collage.)
7: COMMENTS: I am a Hellenic-inspired pagan, so of course I'd love images of Greek gods and myth, but this doesn't necessarily have to be about MY religion. I'm fascinated by all the different spiritual paths and would like to represent as many as possible.

1: THEME: Magic and the Occult
2: DO'S: This will be for magic and the occult as distinct from religion. Are you a magic practioner? Want to share some spells, recipes, etc? Not a believer, but just feeling like drawing some witchy-grooviness? I'm interested in both Book of Shadows style information, and historical oddities. Anything from the Salem witch trials to arcane hermetic symbols to that really great recipe for prosperity incense you've created.
    3. DON'TS: No wizards with fireballs shooting from their finger tips and if anyone is shouting 'Aveda Kevada' it better be Jason Isaacs as Lucious Malfoy! Seriously, the focus is on "real world" magic, as opposed to fictional or stage magic.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm probably going to take these pretty slow, depending on the amount of response I get, so I can make sure I give people returns that are worth their effort.

Details Up to 8 1/2 x 11, 1 or 2 page spreads. Show me an emotion, any emotion. How would you express what you are feeling at this very moment, be it good or bad. Themes do not have to be cheerful. I'm looking for works of art that conveys raw, honest, emotion. Please let me know on the back of your work: what emotion you are conveying, how you felt after completing the page(s), your name & location (simple format, i.e. "Lunacia in North Dakota").

Accepting Any media or technique, please no large 3D objects

International Trades I will try, but sometimes USPS can get uber picky. I am located in Wisconsin, USA

What I can do in return: I do or have done art in many different types of media & formats, just ask.

Hopefully everything you need to know I have included. If not, please don't be afraid to ask. I do not offend easily.

    Rachel: Westerville, Ohio

    Theme: "Fireflies" by Owl City

Details: Up to 8x8, if you'd like to do a 2 page spread just let me know and I'll be happy to work out the details with you. I'd like for folks to take a single line from the song and illustrate it regardless of whether it's a digital photo collage or hand-drawn/painted. My only request is that the page is flat... No bulky embellishments.

International Trades: Are always a possibility, PM me and we'll work out the details.

What I can do in return: I am mostly a digital artist but I have been known to work in colored pencil. I specialize in black and whites that I've inked by hand.

I'm relatively new to journal trades so unfortunately, I don't have any in my gallery but the style I can do in return can be shown in my ATCs. So please always ask questions and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

    Theme: Me and my Muse
Details: 4x4. I will be mounting the art in my altered journal made with 5x5 envelopes. The art will be mounted on the envelope. I would love it if you would send along a note about yourself, your art, a business card or whatever says "you" (think flat) to place inside envelope.
Accepting: Any and All mediums. I am looking for pages that reflect you and what inspires you. If you could see your muse how would it look? Please no bulky embellishments. Internationals are welcome.
Not accepting: Anything occult, nude, or political.
Work I can do: In return, I'll make you one hand drawn/ painted journal page (up to 8x8 in size), or I can make 3 ATCs in a theme you choose. I won't do occult, nude or political.
    Thanks for concidering.

    Name:miss, NJ, USA

Theme:My art journal is called: "We're All Freaks Here: A Book of Differences." I'm mainly looking for quirky/ whimsical/ awesome monsters, creatures, and people.

Details:I'm actually altering an 8"x11" book, so it's easy for me to mount very thin pages, or to cut out a sketch and put it on a background in the book. Please nothing thicker than thin cardstock; no embellishments. I would prefer hand drawn or mixed media with drawn or painted elements.

Do!:Be awesome, and interpret my theme in interesting ways.

Please Don't:use bulky embellishments, depict "brand name" characters, create "cutesy" art

What I can do for you:Whatever you'd like within my abilities. Check out my gallery for samples of my work. I am open to international trades.

    Size: 8x8

1 or 2 page spreads: Art on front, artist info on back.

Theme: Dark and creepy in your own style, whatever that might be. As in, if you enjoy doing manga pages, then by all means do (same goes for any style you might enjoy doing whether it's cute or steampunk or whimsical or whatever). Anything goes as long as you put a dark/creepy/macabre edge to it. I love all things Halloween & DOTD and spooky.

*And in return I am willing to try most anything you'd like. Any theme, any size.
I'm a HD artist & willing to trade for any medium as long as it's done with care.
