Smile HD/HP What can you do with color pencils or crayons? (Kids Welcome) SWAP due Feb. 27

Swap Due Date –February 27, 2012
    Number of Cards - 3 for 3
    Number of participants – Unlimited
    Medium: Medium: Hand Drawn/Hand Painted/Colored
For this theme create anything, as long as the medium is crayons, or colored pencils. I have been trying new mediums and thought about using these. You can outline or make your base drawings with ink, pen, or pencil. Below you will find a butterfly card I made with crayons and a landscape with colored pencils.

    • Shipping: Please send a SASE envelope (business size please) with a minimum of .45 cents or a forever stamp . Personally I would add an extra .20 fin case they go over an ounce, but it is your choice. I will mail the cards the amount of postage you send. Internationals please send a stamp from your country for the same amount it cost you to ship your cards that I can use to send in another swap in your country, or I can accept a dollar via PayPal, or cash.
    • Make sure your cards are the standard 3.5x2.5 size and properly secured in individual sleeves. I prefer you do not tape your cards, but if you must, please use very little.
    • If you need to withdraw just let me know a week prior withdrawal date.
    • Please remember to clearly write your username and the swap name on the back of all your cards, so you can get you rock points, and on the back of your mailing envelope. Please remember to do the back of the envelope, as I have entered many swaps, and I am constantly receiving returns.
    • An extra card for the swap host (in line with the swap theme) is greatly appreciated but is not required.

I will give iTrader feedback when I receive your cards, and will also update this post showing that your cards have arrived. In return I encourage you to give iTrader host feedback for me when you receive your swap returns, and you rock points for the artists whose cards you receive.

    Above all have fun!!

I'd like to play, too, as I've wanted to try some crayon work. SunTrade, did you need to spray a fixative (like you might with pastels) or do the crayon cards do ok? (Something else I've wondered.)

Welcome CynthiaSillitoe! glad you joined us! This is actually a new experiment for me, but I do not think crayons need fixative at all, as crayons do not smear.

I think there are so many cool stuff you can do with them. I color on my desk table which is raw wood and I think all the grain came through, did not plan on that .... but it might be cool to make different effects this way! Jy drawing teacher used to carry a box with her, and she had been drawing for years! She actually worked for hallmark, and made several of their drawings.

I have also seen what some can achieve with colored pencils, and is so amazing! I want to learn to use this mediums, and though the ATCs would be a great place to start.

Cool. I've done a lot of colored pencil, so I may do crayons. I didn't think they'd need a fixative, but wanted to be sure. Now I've got to get me a box of crayons....ah, I love that smell!

Nothing better as a kid than a crayola 64 pack and a pad of paper. The smell, the points on the new crayons, the colors lined up like on a bleachers. Then my sister would draw for 2 minutes and break 6 or 8 crayons. So since they were "used" my mother would dump them into this really cute cat cookie jar and ruin the whole thing.

Hi Jennie, broken crayons, sounds familiar. My granddaughters brake them all, so
I bought cheap ones...and the ended up in a jar but they still do use them.

Suntrade, I would like to join! I have a question about the crayola's, did you use the
"regular" ones, or the watersoluble ones or the oil ones? So many kinds of stuff
to use, we are spoiled aren't we?

mariloupatch yes! we are so spoiled ... I know I am! I used plain crayola crayons. But I am not picky, you can use whichever you feel comfortable with. Welcome to the swap!

I am looking forward to seeing everyone's creations!

Jennie, I agree with you. I love the smell of new crayolas. My mom never bought me some, I always used colored pencils...

Aww! Marilou buy the babies the best for their art needs. Has anyone seen that crayon melter that makes different colors. i don't know a mom out there that hasn't made that a fun time in the kitchen. Now here they make a toy out of it and take the mom part right out of it. They also loved to do stained glass pictures for the windows at Christmas. My youngest was very precise in making her's. While my oldest liked the abstract look
