We have kentuckydakota to thank for the new organization!

    She did it first.

For me it was another case of not seeing the forest for the trees! Until she posted what she did.

Aw, glad it helped. It was survival instinct since I don't have the brains to not get mixed up when they're all together.
And Big Toe your backgrounds arrived today. They are uber-cool! What did you do to make those?

this is the background KentuckyD is asking about.
If Teresa is the only one interested, I will PM her. Or, I can describe the technique on the thread. It is pretty simple, just time consuming and needs more space than an

you got it, CJ. yours is the pivotal position. #2 usually sets the theme and leaves room for embellishments or words, but it is really all up to you.
    have fun.

thanks, Nancy. it is really fun to do, and the possibilities are endless

Wouldn't have occurred to me either.

I'm going to try to get some starters made this weekend.

OK, here goes. I will try to be brief.
    1) this is done on light Srtathmore watercolor paper ( the logo is very faint so I cant read it -it is "aqua----") I did the class in 2001, so cant remember ) I have never tried it on 140# reg. WC paper.
this usually works best if you do the lightest color 1st, and add med. and then darker colors

    2) paint whole sheet with one color liquid or thinned down tube acrylics--let dry

3)paint whole sheet with another color , while still wet lay down saran wrap, bubble wrap, anything that will make a texture--leave it on, let dry..remove saran etc.

4)repeat #3 with a third color and more texturing let dry. remove

    5) do a 4th color, if desired

6 It can be used just like this-the colors and textures are unlimited
    OR
take a good look and see if you see shapes you would like to bring out. use colored pencils to enhance shapes, or color dark behind them to bring them out.

cant seem to upload the pics I want to share--they are on my blog

ColorfulD, I love the hands-colors are perfect

Thanks for sharing big toe studio!

I have decided I need more hours in my day.

I found some cards I need to work on or mail on if I can't. So if you have sent cards to me and don't have them back yet, that is probably why.

I need to declare this weekend, stitching only and the rest of the world needs to leave me alone. I am anxious to see how well that works................

Anyway sounds like everyone is having fun. I'm glad. I love to see all the activity here.

Xstitcher i'm curious... how do you add your art to the cards? i waited a long while before i sent you any because i wasn't sure what type of background to send. (if the set i sent is problematic for ya, feel free to pass them on. i won't be offended)

Does anyone want starters with crayon backgrounds? (I know, I don't have to ask, but not everyone likes crayons.) Basically, I've done a "wash" (no water) that's layers of blues on one set and layers of orange and red on another. Let me know. (And take my advice, scan them in the plastic sleeve. Once you get crayon flakes on a scanner, they never come off.)

Tomorrow I may have some fingerpainted backgrounds available, too.

BigToe, I'm going to have to try that technique...very, very cool.

ceejay, I'd love them! And actually I don't know that people don't like crayons it's just....well, my meds are off and it makes me a little neurotic and insecure.
