I am lurking for now but I'm really intrigued by this idea. Is there 8x8 paper out there or is that something i'd have to cut? I dont really have access to a great cutter, but im sure i could arrange something....

I just cut mine from mix media paper. Drew out my designs then painted it with clear gesso. It feels like canvas, but stiff. Stands up holding it in one hand.
You can do that with any paper, you can get scrapbooking paper in 8x8. And paint it with white gesso or white paint.

I'm just finishing up with the last one. Will post soon.

I cut mine from 350gsm white card with a ruler and scissors, but I am that good with a ruler my last one is too big! Its actually 8 1/4 x 8 1/4
So I am going to have trim it down without ruining it, aaaagh I had my glasses on at that as well

Oh well - I've resisted temptation long enough and the upcoming holiday is no excuse anymore since I've got one page done and two more sketched out. Sign me up Linda! Here's the first one...

All the other suggestions are good. Feel free to use them.

I personally do not usually back my 8x8 pages as long as I am using a sturdy paper. I usually buy Bristol but have had to try to watch my spending so I found a nice mixed media tablet that was two for one last time, but it is still sturdy.

I also do not use gesso, I work mostly with copics, just obsessed with them. Note if whatever you use has a chance of smearing you will want to seal it with a clear sealer.

NOW back to your 8x8 size....
I understand the issue of getting a nice square. An easy no measure no gesso way is to buy the 8x8 scrapbook papers and glue them to the back of your art paper then trim to size.

I envie you all - no copics here... I've got an old set of Sharpies that will have to do. Copics is one thing I can't afford with hubby out of a job for 3 years now....
Oh well - in the meantime my good old set of polycolour pencils works fine - here's page no. 2 - I'm in a 'larger than life' mood and got this Prince of Elves to show for it... The last one for this weekend - no. 3 will probably be done next weekend when the work week is past. Have a great week all!

Lurking...I've got a lot to work on and less time to do so. But, I'll still see what I can do before I commit.

    Love this idea, BTW!

I'm still lurking. I wish my job would slow down. I have two mail art PATs to get out, and then maybe.................. I really like the larger sized mail art.

One of mine I have altered, it is in my gallery, not sure if you will see the changes. It looks really pale and insipid on my monitor but not in real life
