    Cool Envie Addicts Unite! February

I'm an Envie Addict! Hopefully, there are more of you out there! What? You're a newb? What's an Envie you say? If you don't already know, Envies are altered envelopes. They can be drawn on, painted on, upcycled, collage and mix media up! Sky's the limit. Getting personal mail is nice, but getting a mini traveling museum is the best! We also allow postcards!
So here's what I propose, let's get a good sized group going for a monthly swap. It would be a nice way to get our fix of envies on a regular basis. Let's share our ideas, links to inspiration, and get to know each other as artist.

How the NEW sign up works:

First, I will post a new thread like normal. For the first week I will be accepting players. Players have the 1st thru 7th of the month to come to the thread and say, "I wanna play." Once you join, there is no withdrawing.

Next, I will make up a partner's list and post it on the 8th or the 9th of the month. Once I have the player's list up, I will send everyone my usual monthly update via PM.

My suggested mail out date would be the 15th, but for the most part your Envie needs to be in the hands of your partner by the last day of the month. If anything is late, there is a little forgiveness if you are communicating with your partner.

In the past, we've had a lot of peeps that flaked on their trade. Itrader points will now play a big part in who plays in E.A.U. If you had a wonderful experience, fabulous! Leave positive points. If you had a hiccup, but your not too bent outta shape about it, leave a neutral point. If you had a total "flaker" and your experience was horrible...well then you might want to think about a negative point. (Consider yourself warned.)

How will the points help us? I figure it this way. If you had a neutral point as a result of playing in EAU, you will be given a second chance, but a second one in a row will be considered a negative point. If you've had a negative point within 3 months no matter where you were playing, you cannot participate.

On a lighter note, we celebrate birthdays! When you sign up and it happens to be your birthday month say, "I wanna play and I'm celebrating a birthday!" Other player's just might send ya some happy mail. ...just be sure to leave a YouRock point to those that RAK you.
*Birthday addresses can be obtained through Kwailin777.

Naked! Is how we send our Envies...as is. However, there has been times that mail has gone missing. If you feel that your Envie might find the same fate, you can send it, within a plain envelope. But! ... your art has to be dressed up with faux postage and addresses.

Stuff, your Envie's with something sturdy like cereal boxes or junk mail. Send it out, but don't post a pic at AFA until you hear that your partner has received it. Save the surprise for them. Once, you get word that they have it, share it all over the place. We're nosey! We wanna see too!

Size Rules: Your Envie has to be a minimum of 3 5/8 X 6 1/2 inches. (Small Business Envelope) ...and up...

    Celebrating a January birthday! None?
*Birthday addresses an be obtained through Kwailin777.

It's my day off! I have to say to Gemininorn...that I thought I had commented on your recent watercolor windfall. ...Turns out that I only thought it in my head about what to say...and never really said it! Gah! (I can't be held accountable for what I do before coffee!)

Anyways, I just wanted to say isn't it so nice to have new supplies...but then to have it be from your family...with history attached. It's like a double happy! So interesting that the watercolor pans have varied differences...I hope to hear more about them soon. Enjoy using them luv!

Hey friends...I have something that I wanted to get off my chest. Hope that this isn't too much of a downer for ya'll. So, the Tuesday before last, my dog died. I was trying to think of the day that it happened...and i thought that it was this past Tuesday. ...so I guess it feels that recent to me. She would have been 15 this coming May...many would say that's a long life for a dog. Her death isn't anything that I thought it would be...it wasn't good. I always imagined it would be a passing in her sleep. Without getting into too much details...it ended with my husband looking into her eyes while the vet was trying to revive her..he saw the life leave her eyes...and I can't stop think about it. I have major guilt not being there. I thought that my hubby would be taking her to get checked out because it seemed she wasn't feeling well..and that we would get instructions on how to care for her. The kids and I went to work/school like normal. ...I keep thinking that she might have thought that we sent her off to the vet "the scary" people...and that we/I ...sent her there...not protecting her from them.

So even worse...these past few months, with her 15th birthday looming...I felt like a major a**hole. I have major guilt...thinking...I don't think I would be as distraught as I hear about other people who has lost their dogs. How can I be such a cold person? ...but now she's gone...I'm a mess...the family is too. Who knew that this tiny little fur ball would have such an impact on us/me.

It's funny how trained you becoming, caring for a dog. I still sometimes save the last bite of something I'm eating, so that she can have a taste. Making a bee line to the door in the morning so she could have a pee break. Watching where I'm walking, so that I don't step on my lil fur ball. Going to fill up her food/water dish. It's still there...I just haven't had the time to remove it. There's a spot in the living room that she would always lie down on. Everyone stares at that spot.

Anyways, to those of you that lost your fur baby too...I get it...I understand. <3

Mel, I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of your dog. What a lovely little one she is. I think, if this helps, that she and my dog, Jake (an American Eskimo mix), are playing on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. And I know that all of my kitties and dogs (Sidney, Hubert, Heidi, Rascal, Larry, Pumpkin, and Bob) are there too.

I understand how difficult it can be during this time and you shouldn't feel bad or guilt. We can't be everywhere. The day I left to go to Fresno last year, a feral cat I'd been caring for (Little Gray) and had hoped to one day join our little family, disappeared. He was the 3rd to just disappear without a trace. Not long after, another disappeared, was found and badly injured, and passed not long after.

Please take good care of yourself during this time. I have one cat who's about 15 years old and another who's about 11. I also remember how absolutely devastating it was when Jake passed away (he'd been my mom's dog until she died).

Even when I lost the ferals I'd been caring for, I cried.

Please let go of any guilt or other negative feelings. Make some art to honor your pet or write a story or poem. I have done both for several of my pets (and the ferals). Little Orange's story ended up in a pet anthology. He was a little feral and I held him during his last few days, the first human touch he'd ever had. And he purred. I cried so much for so many days after his death.

    Love to you, Mel.

Mel, I'm so sorry for your and your family's loss. Our little furballs are members of the family, of course we miss them terriby <3 But at least she wasn't alone at the end, she was looking at someone she loved. When my Casper-cat passed on, I did have lot's of guilt thinking I didn't do enough for him. Eventually I just accepted I did the best I could for him at the time. If I had to do it all over again, I doubt it'd be any easier. It took me a few weeks to clean up all his stuff, and for a while every house noise made me think it was him. From my understanding, that's all a normal part of the grieving process. You'll pull through.

Hang in there Mel. Take care of yourself. Take care of your family. That's an adorable little picture of Tink.

Oh, Mel. Big virtual hug to you, my friend. The love we feel for our fur babies is unconditional, and they bring a joy to our lives that is one of the best experiences the universe has to offer. It's totally natural and understandable that you are feeling this incredible loss. Your mourning of Tink is safe with us. Hang in there, Love.

Ah Mel, so sad to lose such a good friend. We had to put our old dog down a while back and my two grown sons, husband and myself bawled our eyes out. I still get tearful now.

I won't be doing the Feb envie and I may be awol for envie swaps until June. I'm travelling quite a lot for work and won't be in one place for very long but I'll watch the thread and see how everyone else is doing.

On the up side - I received a lovely January envie from Janina - thank you!

Oh Mel, I am so sorry about Tink. It doesn't matter if we have them for 15 years or 15 minutes, when you give your all to your fur baby it hurts to lose them. You met my Mr. Clyde & you saw how attached he was to me & me to him. I blubbered for days because I felt I had let him down when in reality he had health issues that couldn't be corrected by me or anyone else. Some nights I still reach over to pat him because he always slept close to my back. My friends are trying to get me to have another dog since my husband died but I just can't stand the pain when I lose one.

Time does lesson the pain, so hang in there & remember the happy years that Tink was with you. Hugs, my friend.

Oh gee Mel. I know how you feel. It isn't easy with pets. I sometimes wonder why I keep adding animals to my menagerie when I know what comes at some point. You will always carry a part of her with you. Much love my friend.
