Anyone want to trade Art/Mixed media technique prompts APC-style?

    (Edited for clarity)

Hello! I have it in my head to make/collect ATCs or APCs made by using mixed media/art journal technique prompts. (So instead of saying 'make a card based on my wishlist', making cards based on a particular technique). I thought it would be fun to actually make and trade cards based on prompts, rather than a theme. Does anyone want to trade art journal/mixed media technique prompt cards with me? Here's a list of some ideas I have, but it's definitely not all-inclusive:

    Use Watercolor
    Doodle or draw something
    Use a stencil
    Use tissue paper
    Use Inka Gold
    Use modeling paste
    Use fabric or fibers
    Use a book page
    Use a dictionary word
    Use stamps
    Use washi tape
    Use or make a tag
    Use rub-ons
    Splatter something
    Use gelli plate/papers
    Write something
    Add a 3D element
Use stamp ink, NOT with a stamp
    Add a numbers
    Use ephemera or scrapbook paper
    Add or use gesso
    Emboss something
    Add or use something black
    Add or use something white
    Add a circle
    Use stickers
    Add a quote
    Use gelatos
Use something odd as a stamp or stencil
    Add a silhouette
    Add something recycled
    Use something to your left
    Use something to your right
    Add random letters
Sketch something you see in the room
    Use a painted paper towel
Use packing tape to transfer an image
    Add paint with a sponge
    Use watercolor pencils
    Create a layer
    Use alcohol inks

Foxglove, this was moved into the ATC Trading forum as it's better suited there.

Foxglove, I love this idea! My problem is that I am terribly s...l...o...w at creating things, so I wouldn't be able to do a whole deck! I love your list! A couple more prompts to consider:

Use a painted paper towel or pieces to create a background (sounds bizarre, but it's cool!)
Use packing tape to create an image transfer

Ooh, I like those suggestions! And yeah, I'm pretty slow too....I already know this will take me a while. Just thought it would be cool to have some cards that other people have made, too.

Lalka, thank you! I'm okay with ATCs...I'm doing mine because the cards are thicker, but I'm not choosy on what I'd receive, and can make your cards as an ATC.

What a great idea! And we all may learn from each other!
I thought of sponge painting or using watercolor pencils.

Those are great suggestions too, Hazartist1! I've added them to the list - let me know if you want to do a technique-based trade!

Okay, Lalka and Desert_Artist, you all have been so patient - here's your cards. I have a description of what I did with each on in the gallery...I hope you all like the cards!

Lalka - Bedroom Eyes: Prompt - Vintage Photo (Lalka's request.) I also used gelli papers, a stencil and embossing powders.

Desert Artist: Keepsake Moments: Prompt - Gelli Papers (which is the prompt I pulled.) Also used a stencil, punchinella and doodles.

Hi Jennifer! Yes it is - it's my personal list, so this is a trade with me. I'm not sure if there's enough interest to make it like the rolo list, where people list their names and what techniques they can offer, and then individuals set up their own trades.

Anyway, are you interested in a technique/prompt-based trade with me?

I would love to! So how does this work? Do I just create some cards with random prompts from the list? I actually keep a bucket of popsicle stick prompts on my desk for days that I'm stuck...I added some of yours from the list. Each one has a prompt and I pull one out at a time and complete the task. It's really fun!

We do whatever works best for us - I'm easy! I can either pull random prompts and make a card for you using whatever I pulled, and you can do the same with your list, or you can tell me what technique(s) you'd like me to use, and I'll make a card based on that. For my part, I love surprises - hmm...maybe make a card using a technique you've never tried before (or used only once or twice.) As for the theme for my card, I'm totally open to artist's choice.

I love surprises too! How about one of each-one card with random prompts and one with a new technique? Artist's choice on both? Yay!

    Hello Foxglove! (neighbor?!)
I just found this thread and I think it's a wonderful idea! I would love to trade a mixed media collage APC using a gelli plate background, dictionary word and postage stamp. Any theme... unless you want to specify. If interested, I'll pm my address. -- Pam
