Signing in to thread, glad you received them. My blues really did look blue individually, but next to each other they look more aqua, green etc. I like it.

I just finished up my Ho, Ho, Ho chunkies, & a tag swap, & a gift swap so I'm now ready to devote my time to blue chunkies. I love 4x4 chunkies & I don't know how I have missed so many of your swaps. EEK! I will pay better attention in the future.

I know, chunkies are addicting, right? I just love them, well, I love ATCs, too, but something different is always nice, too.....

I've decided to go with 4:4 instead of 6:6 & I'm ready to mail on Tuesday.

All have a watercolor background with texture paste over a stencil, acrylic paint pens, fibers, & clip art from recycled Christmas cards. Here they are:

I have been lured here by the beautiful eye candy. . And.....I'm wondering.....would Bristol smooth be heavy enough for these? I've never made a chunky before. I did however win a few packages of the Strathmore 4x4 artist tiles from AFA for coming in 2nd place in one of the contests. I think these are Bristol paper. Would I need to double them (ie glue two sheets together) to make them thick enough, or are they thick enough single sheet?

nightowl too, I use Bristol smooth for just about everything. However, for these chunkies I used pieces of cereal box material just because I had a lot of it.. I think the Bristol or 140# watercolor paper works very well. By the time you get your clip art/embellishments/sealer, etc. attached the paper becomes quite firm so I don't think you need to glue 2 pieces together.
Now, having said all of this, I should let ferretgirl answer your question since she is the host.

Thanks LindyLu. I do have plenty of 140# WC paper on hand. I'm home now and have taken a closer look at what I had been referring to in my previous post. They are, in fact, 4x4 white boards by Crescent. Boy was my memory off (rolling my eyes). So I think I am set. I'll be back to sign up if I get them done in time.

I have another question already . I am unsure of the limits of what other colors besides blue can be used. I went back and read through the white chunky swap, which I have figured out was the first in this series, and it said black, silver and gold were also allowed. But for this swap the instructions don't address other colors or what the guidelines are. So, can I wing it and just have mostly blue shades with lesser amounts of other colors? I just want to make sure I stay compliant with the theme.

Hi nightowl, too. Thanks for checking our swap out=) As far as the thickness of the base you are using; you should not be able to bend or fold the base easily. As it is, I have some artists that are sending in bases that are easily bent & folded & I will no longer be accepting those for the chunky page Color Series. Other artists are concerned about longevity of the final product & if they are not sturdy they will not last all that long. It sounds like you would be okay/fine using the ones that you won. I use cereal boxes & also pre-cut bases to make mine. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

It is perfectly fine to use wisps of other colors in your artwork, however, they should not be the focal color at all. If the color swap says Purple then we want to see lots of purple & not lots of white or gold or silver or black or whatever. It is perfectly fine to also use different shades of the color we are working on, too, as long as it looks nice.

We do have a few artists that actually do HD/HP artwork but they've gone the route of either mixed media or collage. The size can be a bit intimidating at first but once you get used to it; it is great size to work with.

Please do let us know if you have any other questions; we would love to have you join in!!

A couple of mine I tried something different to have some fun. I hope they look ok. My last one I'm planning to use some fabric as well as paper. I think that's fine, right ferretgirl?

suzyq: I love how you made that page. Why don't I think of things like that???

I had no idea that we were not to use other colors. Jeez, I should have read the first swap but it just didn't occur to me. OK, I have pulled my pages out of the to-be-mailed pile & I will try to change the colors on my houses. I just wish I had known
