    Journaling by 5s

Has anyone out there done journaling by 5s? If so I'd be interested in your stories and pics! I'm on step 3 right now....my goal is to get a journal to the point where I can take it with me places and just doodle with my paint pens and stuff. So, almost done pages. With journaling by 5s I can do this in like an hour and have 20 pages!

If you haven't heard of it, it's an art journaling method that is supposed to get your right brain working instead of you getting stuck on your page. It's the brainchild of Shannon Green (Her video is here)
You journal in 15 minute sessions. Seriously-with a timer. On 20 pages!
    Session 1. Backgrounds- Paints/inks
    Session 2. Texture- Paper/recycled material
    Session 3. Pattern- Stamps/stencils
    Session 4. Focal image- images/words
    Session 5. Detail- pen/pencil
You cut your stuff out ahead of time of course. After step 5 you have free play to go in and do whatever you want. The point is to get the pages to a point where you know where you want to go with them.

I loved this idea so much! I'm on step 3 right now and it's just making me so happy, the process is just so much fun! I thought I'd share and see if anyone wants to play along with me! if you want to watch someone go through the process first, watch Let's Get Inkie on YouTube. Her videos were really enjoyable. I think she calls them journaling by 5's step 1, 2 etc..

Just watched the video. Neat concept. I tend to spend more time on my pages because each page represents something specific (a feeling, a memory, etc.), but maybe I should just let go and let my right brain rule for a while, LOL!

Exactly! I usually journal with intent too, so this has been a really fun release of pure creativity...Here are a few pics of my step 4:

I've been in art journaling slump lately. Usually I plan as I go and generally have something in mind when I make a page. This might be a good kickstart to just get me going and playing freely with no expectations, and see what happens. Thanks for posting.
