Talking DOMINO BOOKS! Due Feb 25, 2017

Swap Due Date: February 25, 2017
Signup: early enough to get your books to me in time (I’m in the USA)

    Number of domino books: 2 for 2, 3 for 3, or 4 for 4
    Number of participants: unlimited
Medium: Original HD/HP and/or mixed media with collage elements

I've been thinking about domino books ever since the last swap hosted by notinkansas. I did notice that moonrose was considering hosting one, but after asking her she gave her blessing to me to host. She is cool that way, . So, who would like to join me in making domino books!

Theme: open theme - yea! I will post some examples in the thread as we go for ideas and inspiration.

    Details
    - Size of dominos should be approximately 1"x2". Wood or plastic dominos are fine
    - Please have 6 pages minimum, the first and last glued to the front and back domino.
    - Clasps or ribbon should be used to make sure the book can close completely.
    - Make sure all items are securely attached to your book.
    - Each book should be protected in it's own plastic bag and clearly labeled with your name/username, date and any other info you may wish to include.
    - Submit only work you yourself would be pleased to receive. I will try to swap quality for quality.
-Please know that hostess gifts are truly appreciated and cherished but not at all necessary to participate.

    Mailing
-I will pay for return postage for the first three international participants and the first two U.S. participants .
-please use a bubble mailer to send your domino books to me
-please enclose return postage (in U.S. stamps or dollars) equal to that for which it cost you to mail your package to me
-PM me for my address when you are ready to send your books. (If you already have it, it's still the same)

***Posting your finished domino books to this thread makes it lots of fun and inspiring. We’d all love to see the eye candy and hear your thoughts regarding your creations.***

oh yes, I used my dremel to drill holes in my wooden dominos. Such fun! Lots of smoke from the heat, with a bit of melted plastic coating too - hee hee. They turned out good though. Hope to see you back.

I would love to play ... but I haven't such Domino pieces and I don't want to buy a great set only for the swap. Would a wood piece in the right size works? How thick is the right size?

I hope Nightowl too doesn't mind. Here are a couple of YouTube videos

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kf_eRxpbagk

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nwFc7orBeSA

I have heard you can get dominos at Walmart for only a couple of dollars.

Please tell me what the Dremel is for because I have actually never made one, but they sure look awesome!

Here are some I made in 2015. These are the pages. I didn't need to drill them. I put ribbon between the covers and then tied the domino book shut with a bow. You can see the covers of three of them. Then I made an autumn book and a poppy book. The opposite side of the pages is just designs or scrap paper. Mine only had art on one side. The pages fold like an accordian.

I'd like to play. Now if I can only find my dominos!!!!

A Dremel is the name brand of a hand held high speed rotary tool that you can use for all different things depending on the bit that you attach to it similar to a drill bit. Hobbiests and diy'rs like it because, depending on the bit, you can use it to do etching on metal glass or wood, drill accurately placed holes, polish things, cut things ....just tons of stuff. I drilled holes through my dominos to run the closure ribbon. But you absolutely don't need to make them that way. I fact, I think I was the only one who did that in the last swab. This time around I'm toying with attaching a small snap to the end of fat ribbon as a closure.

Here are the ends and insides on one I have yet to finish. I used Ranger Glossy Accents to add a thick layer of shine to the tops of the dominos
