I have seen paper dolls assembled with knot work in place of brads. The dolls still moved with the knots. With the limbs glued in place they would be oversized when mailing.

Gorgeous! Love the flower bud head! I was thinking flowers for at least one of mine. Great minds.

Bwah hah haa!
Eye bleach required?
I shouldn't. I just shouldn't, and I'll have to blame Gem for posting over at the other thread. I love movable dolls. I love sea turtles. I just shouldn't, but I WILL.
Please add me to this swap.
Okay.. I just went and bought some brads... they are too big in my opinion but that was the smallest size they had. Any suggestions on where I could get some small ones?

I have purchased mini brads at both Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
Amazon has a huge selection. Also an odd little site called retrocafeart.com
Welcome to the swap!
Paradox, I got my brads here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The postage is expensive, but the brads are tiny enough for a project like this.

Rosecake - thank you for that link! I added it to a list to save for ordering later.
Art Junkie - Looks like there is no way to avoid Hobby Lobby... I am going to head there this weekend to see if I can find some brads. I was at Michaels but the one here is super small and does not carry that many products. They did not have small brads, only large ones.
I know I have a pack of small brads (about 4.5mm) in my stash. That would be about 3/16 of an inch. Is that small enough? I only ask because if I order the micro brads on amazon I pay more for postage than for the brads so I try to avoid that.

It all works. The larger brads are lovely in the art too. I have a stash of micro brads because I could not bear to part with the bigger ( prettier) ones.
OOoooooooH MY! Ruth! Sign me up, girlfriend! I am missin' some Ruthness in my life...big time!!!!
And...BTW...Thanks, Lucy for the "heads up" on this swap! So cooool!

Ah-ha-ha PEG!!!
Lurking, I'm going to attempt to play around with this format and see what I come up with![]()
I got my mini brads from Hobby Lobby, but yeah...now a days you can get some really amazing styled brads. They may even become the "bling" of your turtle![]()
If I haven't said thank you for a kind comment, please know that they are very much appreciated.

My turtles will be tangled up a bit. Here's the first one. This one is done in colored pencil & acrylic paint pens. Sorry I didn't tuck in the brad tips when I folded it up & you can see a couple peeking out.
