ZENDOODLE WHIMSICAL FLOWER GARDEN CHUNKIES Due July 7, 2017

    Due date July 7, 2017
Number of Pages: 3 for 3 only
Final Sign Up and Withdraw Date: June 30, 2017
    Number of Participants: 30
    Medium: Zen-doodle with color added

    ZEN-DOODLE WHIMSICAL FLOWER GARDEN CHUNKIES

Zen-doodle is a mix of doodling with zentangle added, as little or as much as you like but you need some zentangles.

    Please Do:
*You will be doing at least 3 flowers on each chunky. You will also be adding some color. It is spring and they are flowers and I’m dying for their beauty after a long winter. I would prefer that each chunky page be different but if they are slightly similar that is okay. Host chunky in theme is not required but would be treasured in my book.

*Chunkies should be 4 x 4 in size, securely made & sturdy. If I can bend or fold the chunky pages easily then they are too thin. Three 4”x4” layers are needed-1st Bristol or cardstock for Zen-doodling. 2nd cardboard (cereal boxes are great or coasters). 3rd your black and white cardstock or paper you want to Zendoodle a bit on the back.
*Chunky pages that are received that are not sturdy or do not follow the rules will be returned to the artist at their expense. It is not fair to the other artists that follow the rules.

*You may add dangles if you would like, but remember if used they should be securely fastened & able to go through a mail machine with no problems and you also may need to add extra postage for shipping costs for adding them.

*Please leave a half inch on the left side for binding purposes. Encase your chunky pages in protective plastic. Please decorate the backside (can be more simple) with black and white printed paper or some zendoodles (& put your info on the back) Real name/A4A name/the swap name/ where you are from/date)/chunky title if you would like.

*Please include a large label with your name and address clearly written on it

    Postage:
Both US and international artists must pay for their own return postage; either well concealed cash (the amount that it took to mail your chunky pages to me)/US stamps/or you can private message me for my Pay Pal addy info. Estimated postage costs:

**See my comments on page 4 of thread since costs seem to be less than prices below
    US $2.74-$3.25 for three pages/
    Canada $9-$11
Everywhere else $11-$14 for three pages/

I will refund any extra $$$ left over from shipping prices.

When you are ready to send please private message me for my addy info.

*Late Cards will be returned to you. Please ensure you mail with enough time. If you have any questions, whatsoever, please feel free to ask. It is a good idea to go over the rules a couple of times so that you become comfortable in getting your swaps out appropriately.

Let’s welcome Spring with some flowers in full bloom!

So you have an idea of what I am thinking of these are two of mine that I am almost done. I wasn't thinking of the flowers being in the same color scheme but that is just what happened when I started painting.

I'm lurking with Kynara, same reason- to get them done first.

May I say I APPLAUD and very much LOVE your Chunky requirements! ! ! I am tired of chunkies that are just like oversized atc's! I do not think that someone came up with the idea a Chunky to be an oversized ATC - it's to be Chunky, with Embellishments and Dimension and thickness!
The one thing I don't understand - and this seems to hold true with everybody who does chunky swaps -
is why it should be able to go through a mail machine. these are small packages and I don't think they put them through machines. I'm probably wrong but I'm going to ask the next time I go to the Post Office.

Hi catladybj, great to hear from you. Glad to hear you liked the requirements. I was hoping to help any newbies to chunkies so wanted to give them the basics of creating them. I like the idea that the pages can be put together to create a child's chunky book for adults. As for mailing the chunkies I would love to hear what the post office says to you. Sure hope you can join us!

    I do have a question..
1- Are these meant to be flat or can they be dimensional?
As in cutting out pieces and popping them up.
2-How about embellishments? I think you said danglies are fine.
    thanks!
oh, btw, I would love to have one of your pages! I love both
    that you've shown (yellow).

Catladybj, so glad you like the examples! I thought maybe they were why people weren't signing up. Great questions! If you can see in Prex' s chunky her flowers pop out. She has only heard me says this 100 times to her but we'll make it 101 for good measure- I LOVE that about her chunky! I didn't do that on mine. So yes that is fine. But nothing should be added that you didn't draw and color yourself. The only bought add ons can be your dangles.
But you can always make them if you wish to as well. I hope this is all wetting your appetite to join.
