    Cool HD/HP Round Robin Cards - 3

    Hand-Drawn/Hand-Painted Round Robin Cards
We are a group of ATC artists who like a bit of a fun challenge and creating ATCs with more than one person!

    New Players are Welcome!
If you'd like to join this group, PM me with the following information:
    USERNAME
    REAL NAME AND ADDRESS*
    THEME DON'Ts
(*only shared privately with the other players)

Here is how this 3 ATC/Player Round Robin works:
    1. Player 1 starts 3 ATCs. Player 1 finds a Player2 and mails all 3 ATCs to Player 2.
    2. Player 2 adds to all 3 ATCs. Player 2 finds a Player 3 and mails all 3 ATCs to Player 3.
    3. Player 3 finishes all 3 ATCs. Player 3 keeps 1 ATC, gives iTrader to Player 1 and Player 2, and mails the remaining 2 ATCs back to Player 1.
    4. Player 1 keeps 1 ATC, gives iTrader to Player 2 and Player 3, and mails the remaining ATC to Player 2.
    5. Player 2 gives an iTrader to Player 1 and Player 3.

This is what a set of 3 ATCs looks like at each stage:

Linda4atc was Player 1, LucyMc was Player 2 and NatashaMay was Player 3.

Jams are not a part of this thread. Jams are when player 1 starts only one card it is passed to two or three other people to work on. Then mailed back to the first person who makes good quality copies for each person who worked on their card.

    The Rules please read...
    • All 3 ATCs must be 2 1/2" x 3 1/2", straight and neatly cut.
    • All ATCs must be HD/HP only, using any traditional HD/HP media. (if you aren't sure, ask in the thread)
    • On the back of all 3 ATCs, the first player should write "AFA HD/HP RR" at the top. All players should add their their AFA username to the back of each card. (Many artists optionally include their real name, location and a very brief description of what they added)
    • Each ATC should be mailed in it's own protective sleeve. (An excellent way to mail sets is in a single row cut from a plastic 9 pocket page. It not only keeps all three cards neat and together, it fits perfectly and stays flat in a business size envelope.)
    • No random mailings of in-progress sets to the other players. You need the commitment of the next player to work on the set, before mailing to them. (e.g. next Player posts "I'll take the set" in thread)
    • No glitter is allowed since it can get messy for other players. Glitter pens (i.e. glitter gel pen, glitter paint pen) are acceptable.
    • iTraders are given, when you receive the completed ATC(s). Each players gives 1 iTrader to each of the other 2 players that worked on the set.
    • Wrong size cards or incorrect media could get you a neutral iTrader for sub-par artwork and/or your cards sent back to you incomplete.
    • Lack of communication (e.g. not answering other players multiple PMs) about the status of any set in your possession, could result in a neutral iTrader.

    Guidelines please read...
    • Please do your best work! Add artwork to the sets that you'd be happy to receive.
    • Please make sure you leave enough "space" in your composition for the other player(s) to add their artwork to the set.
    • Avoid white backgrounds. There are not many instances where the card would call for a white background.
    • The goal is to create three "identical" ATCs (give or take, it is HD/HP), and each player keeps one. You can vary things up a little, by picking different color combinations or different details.
    • A HD/HP collage element may be used if you are really stuck (e.g. a previous player has created a water-soluble background and you can't add to it without damaging the existing artwork), BUTIn past, players that have employed this technique, have checked in with the thread to vet their idea before adding it. (not mandatory, just a nice practice)
      • it must be be HD/HP on another piece of paper, neatly cut out, and securely adhered to the ATC
      • no collages papers, no pre-printed materials and no stamped images
      • it may NOT be used to eliminate or disguise another player's artwork
      • this collage technique should be used sparingly, as glue and different paper types can affect mediums used on the card, and can make it difficult for the next player

    • A color wash background is a valid start, however....
      • just a color wash background does not always give the next player inspiration to work with
      • it may be hard for others to add to it without damaging the background or already added artwork (e.g. a watersoluble medium will affect the medium you put on top)

    • Please refrain from using any medium, fixative, sealer, top coat or varnish that could prevent another player from adding art work to the set (e.g. you can't draw on top of a final fixative, only a workable fixative allows for that)
    • Altering another player's artwork: Please do not re-draw, re-color or re-shade another players artwork. Please do not add your artwork in such a way that eliminates or disguises another player's artwork.

Have fun! Enjoy the challenge. We love eye candy in this this thread, so please DO share your in-progress and completed sets in the thread for everyone to enjoy!

    Tips from players
    • Does your added artwork give others options/inspiration to add to their artwork to the card? Have you limited the possibilities too much? (Limiting possibilities isn't always a bad thing.) This is a useful consideration for Player 1.
    • Does your addition have cohesiveness? Does all the artwork looks like it belongs there? Does it fit in with the story the card is telling? An artistic addition does not always have to be entirely cohesive, but when it doesn't, it still furthers the story of the card (albeit possibly in a different direction!). This may be more of a consideration for the Player 3, who in many cases "ties" the whole card together.
    • Does your choice of media work with the other media already on the card? Are they going to interact and make combine for some undesirable effect?
    • Does your color choices work with the card? Do you intend complimentary colour choices or contrasting choices? Keep in mind, not everyone has the same brands or media to work with, so sometimes choosing color can be a challenge and take a bit of experimentation (off card).
    • This group can sometimes be a little too challenging for new HD/HP artists. (Not to discourage you!) It'll be easier for you if you understand the basics of drawing and shading, and if you are open to drawing a variety of different themes.
    • Yes, sometimes it's challenge to add to what other players have started and can be a little frustrating. But a little challenge and frustration can help you grow as an artist, so hang in there! We are happy to encourage you if you are really feeling stuck, so go ahead and post your dilemma to the thread. We're all here to have fun, and we hope you do too!

I've got these starter sets, if anyone would like a specific set, please let me know!

Linda4atc has claimed one of the Hallowe'en sets (but she didn't say which one , so you can still get your dibs in!)
One set will go to NatashaMay, so two are still up for grabs!

Natasha, I some how missed this post in the last thread, my apologies. I was wondering why you didn't include a set of starters (you usually do). Sorry!
    http://atcsforall.com/forum/showpost...&postcount=397

And just for the record, yes, anyone can send me a set of starters, you don't have to ask in advance. I may not always be the fastest out of the gate, but I will work on them!

I'm here. Thank you MissM for taking over!

I tend to check in the thread as of late because I'm not sure if people are still following the thread and I don't want to overwhelm them with sets.

I'm always up for RR. I don't think you have any homers for me but if you have any sets left, I'll take one. Doesn't matter which.

Awesome Natasha, one set is saved for you!

I'm also looking for a 3rd player for the 2 sets Linda2atc started.

I'm still here....haven't gotten any cards in forever...but then...haven't sent any either. Did some little beavers over a year ago that seem to have been lost...so there's that. And...am very actively involved in the Random Round Robin cards.
I'll teach anybody anything I know, I just don't want to work.

Hey lindagiese! Nice to see you are still around If you haven't actively been posting to the RR thread, then yes likely no one was mailing sets to you. I can send a starter set your way if you like.

Natasha, the steampunk cow is yours!

Paradox, you are now properly on the list

Currently all the sets I had were mailed out earlier this week, but I imagine some of those will need thirds! Anybody else got something right now?

I've got a few more starter ideas, I just haven't had the time to draw them out yet.

    Keep checking back!

    Thank you!

And sure I don't mind finishing those sets off if someone wants to send them this way

If no one else claims them (I wanted to give the others a chance to check the thread), you can send 'em my way!
