    Arrow 🐼 Buddy Cards-a-thon 🐼 August 17-24

    ✿ Buddy Cards-a-thon ✿
Buddy Cards: 2 cards, 2 artists - perfect art collaboration
    ***Not a normal art-a-thon***

    ⌚ Run Time: August 17th to August 24th ⌚
    ༺༺༺༺༺༺༺༺༺༺༺༒༻༻༻༻༻༻༻༻༻༻༻

    ✉ Goal of this A-Thon ✉
To create as many "Starter Sets" as we can for our Buddy Cards Trading thread. This should help kick-start the thread... with a fresh start and new creativity vibes.

✿ What are Starter Sets? ✿
First, you need to understand how Buddy Cards work. They are different from the traditional 1:1 trades in the sense that with normal trades both artists create their own ATCs then trade. With Buddy Cards - 1 artist starts both cards (keeping them identical) and mails them to the second artist. This second artist would then finish both cards (keeping them identical) and mail 1 card back to the first artist.

***Note on "identical cards": cards do not exactly have to be identical in order for them to be considered a set - this is how they are normally done. Please see the Mixed Media examples in the second post for a set that is not identical.

The cards that the first artist creates are called "Starter Sets" as they start the whole process. Starter Sets are NOT completed ATCS!!! They should, however, still have work put into them. Just drawing a smiley face, or putting a gradient down, or gluing a sheet of paper down is not enough - more effort needs to be put in.

✿ What happens to the cards we make here? ✿
Do NOT trade them in this thread - we want to prevent confusion.
Cards that your create for this a-thon are shared here, like normally, but not traded here. In order to trade cards please head over to the official Buddy Cards Trading thread. Post your Starter Set(s) there for others to claim.
You can wait till after this a-thon is over to post your cards to the official thread... the goal would be to stay here for a week and just create Starter Cards then migrate back once the week is over.
***You do not have to be list
ed as an "official player" in order to create and finish cards or to even participate in the official thread.

✿ What happens in this thread then? ✿
❦ We are focusing on creating as many Starter Sets as we can.... that's all!
❦ We want to try to get as many different types as we can - to use them as reference for creating a "Starter Set" creation guide later on.
❦ We want to make them in all mediums possible out there in the world!!! ....yes it sounds crazy but it is meant to be!

★ Some extra things happening in this thread:
❥ We might get players from the HD/HP Round Robin 03 contributing, who would be making 3 starter cards
❥ We might get players from the Continuous Random Round Robin 08 contributing,
who would be making 3 starter cards (mixed media)

    ⌘ Things to Note ⌘
➳ This thread is open only for a week. All discussions, concerns, questions, trades, inquiries, etc. shall all be carried out in the official thread once this a-thon is over.
➳ You can ask questions and voice opinions, concerns, ideas, etc in this thread while the a-thon is running as well as carry on chit-chat.
➳ Cards MUST follow the official rules of this site for making ATCs:
    • All ATCs should be 2.5"x3.5" (64mm x 89mm)
    • Cards should be sturdy - nothing floppy is allowed. Glue multiple layers if need be
    • Cards should not be too chunky - if they do not fit inside a clear sleeve then they are not allowed
    • Anything glued down MUST stay glued down - please use extra/strong glue to keep things stuck where they belong. Remember the "Sub-par works" guidelines of this site.
    • All mediums are accepted: collage, stamping, embossing, fabric, crochet, ribbons, pens, pencils, paints, beads, glitter, etc.
    • If using materials that you know some people do not like: clearly state them when you share your cards here and in the official thread - pretty please!
    • Both cards MUST be identical - we are not machines but the cards should look the same (as close as you can get them)

    ❅ Resources ❅
***How do I share an image to a thread?
    ***How to post from Flickr
    ***What are sub-par works?
While art is subjective, the quality of craftsmanship and adherence to the media guidelines are important when submitting work to swaps.
    Examples of ‘Sub-par’ submissions are:
    • Collaged elements falling off/poorly glued/glue showing
    • Cards of the wrong size
    • Computer printouts - not made by the ATC maker and poorly drawn over
    • Cards created with little to no thought (i.e. a sticker or rubber stamped image on a plain piece of cardboard with little to no extra effort

    ஜ New to a-thons? ஜ
Please feel free to say so in the thread or PM me. Everyone here would love to help you out and participate! ❤

I can't wait to see you both here!
I have already started sketching ideas for HD/HP cards so I hope to see some mixed media ones in the thread too.
Feel free to pass along the word to anyone who loves a-thons or collaborative works.

Blue cards I used scrapbook paper, a really cool lace type stamp (1 of only 5 I have).
Once stamped I then used a shimmer sharpier and gel pens to add in details to the lace pattern. I then used PRisma Markers to make the edges darker (using a darker blue from the scrapbook page).
    Thank you!

Such a cool technique - thanks for sharing!

I just signed up in the Buddy thread. Going to dig into some supplies today and get myself organized. This marathon is perfect because I can work on an off-site trade at the same time.

I've found it helps to invite and let people know. It's a nice long marathon so it will be easy for people to jump in.

Working on a nice invite now

I've already started some yellow and more of these blue background ones. Today I am going to try to do some HD/HP starters.

Hi just logged in. Bedtime now, but I already told my hubby I'll be doing some arcs this weekend. Unfortunately I have a busier than usual week so not sure what other days I'll play.
