I don't normally like abstract work (I'm a bit OCD) but I LOVE those pen and ink ones cats_n_dogs. What sort of pen have you used to (I guess) put water on to get the grey washes.

    Ann,
I used speedball india ink in an open container, water and a paintbrush. The thin lines are a calligraphy drawing nib. One of the ones in my gallery are lined with a copic .5 pen. Abstracts are a great way to practice composition and mark making. I was playing with how the many shades of India ink I could get and when and how it would bleed. That way I know how to get all the effects from the ink that it will give me.

Catsndogs, those abstracts look really fun to do. I want to try that. I think it would feel therapeutic :-) Plus I might figure out how to make more interesting clouds. I'm always trying to do that. Oh! And I think there's a cloud prompt coming up for Inktober!

KP, you should try gestalt abstract. I had a great time making mine. It's a great excuse for making a lot of odd gestures over paper. We all do it, however it's more fun when your aware of, and exaggerating it.

Plumhill, those drawings look professional. Great job!

I'm planning to for the "clouds" prompt! I'm picturing doing 9x12" watercolor page of a gazillion "clouds" which of course can be just about anything!

A quick 5 minute sketch before I run out the door. Any guesses who it is? It doesn't do justice to his twinkly eyes. It was actually a very smiley picture of him, but that got lost somewhere in my translation, lol.

I read your words on my email notification before I saw your picture. When I read "twinkly eyes" I assumed you were referrring to Santa. I assume, though, that THAT much didn't get lost in the translation :-)

It's a great quick sketch, whomever it is! Good realistic proportions and all that good stuff :-)

Ha ha! It's supposed to be Danny Gregory. I may try again. He has such a character face, and he does a lot of self-portraits. I think he's an interesting subject.

I uploaded more inks to my gallery. I did a set for the mushroom Zen tangle and then one for myself. I also was flattening one of my ink abstracts and forgot it. So all said and done I hit my 50th APC/ATC mark. I think that I am officially hooked.......Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement.

Congrats CatsN. Believe there is a lot of different ways to get hooked on this site. I've been here since 2006 and still keep finding new things. These House Shaped ATC's are it this time.
Ohh I have the one that I had to do some ink drawing in my gallery... It's the Vampire Vacation House, but I think I have others that are more fun to look at.

    Today's effort.

I recently hosted vintage children's books which I thoroughly enjoyed. I love the illustrations from the Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. So that is today's inspiration.

PS: Who else had some of those sandals?
