I am almost never the first person to sign up because I like to see what everybody else wants...but this is too good to pass by. Please add me to group 1. Now I need to wander around my hose and check out the 6 bookcases. It will be fun to see what everybody else is reading!

Welcome jo.on.the.go and ann_stebbing!

Ann, I think it is fine to use a printed page as your background, as long as the bookshelf and books are hd/hp :)

Group 1 please. 1. "Gone with the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell, 2. "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte. 3. "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte, 4. "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, 5. "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy".

These all reflect my passion for anything by John Steinbeck.

Novels by Steinbeck that I especially enjoyed
Cannery Row (my absolute most favorite book)
Sweet Thursday (a sequel to Cannery Row)
Of Mice and Men
Tortilla Flat
Grapes of Wrath
East of Eden (semi-biographical)

Journal of a Novel by John Steinbeck (letters that JS wrote while writing East of Eden)
Log from the Sea of Cortez by John Steinbeck (an account of a six-week journey in 1940 with Ed Ricketts to the Gulf of California to collect marine specimens. The book inspired me to go to Baja California and the Gulf of California last year - traveled the whole length of Baja California.)

Between Pacific Tides by Calvin and Ricketts. (A field guide to Pacific Ocean tide pools. Ricketts is the man Steinbeck fictionalized in Cannery Row. Steinbeck wrote the forward to this book)
