Trash to Treasure Mystery Envelope Challenge #4 - Due January 5, 2018
ABOUT THE SWAP AND THE MYSTERY ENVELOPE
This swap is a mixed media collage challenge to create ATCs from items from trash and my stash. You must be willing to think outside the box and use items in different and new ways. Each envelope will have a variety of items. Some items will be the same type but slightly different, if I didn’t have 12 exactly the same.
Each card must be 2.5” by 3.5” on a sturdy base. The card can be any shape within the size limit (doll or house, etc). The card must fit inside an ATC sleeve.
THE MYSTERY ITEMS
ATC sized kraft-core cardstock is included for background or substrata. It is not a requirement to use these as a base.
~The envelope will have miscellaneous trash and items out of my stash.
~The requirement is to use at least two trash or stash items on every card.
~The items you use must be altered in some way – rip, tear, paint, sand, ink etc.
~Dig out your paint, inks, glue, paintbrushes, brayers, pens and pencils.
~Use the ingredients to layer interesting colors, shapes and textures; make your own templates, draw and doodle.
~Do not make abstract cards.
~Do not glue items down willy nilly without design.
~Have a focal point that draws your eye and is complemented by the surrounding colors and textures.
~You are encouraged to add items of your own to complete the card.
On the back of your card include your AFA username, real name and the mystery items you have used.
CHALLENGE ITEM
There will be a challenge item in each envelope. If you use the challenge item, please identify that item in the card you make. I will award a prize to the winning card. If you haven’t posted your challenge item card to the thread, you will not be eligible for the prize.
TO SIGN UP
Send me a private message with your mailing address.
When I receive your message, I will mail you your mystery envelope.
Once you have signed up for the swap, there is no withdrawal.
Due to the amount of same trash I had, the limit is 12 players.
POSTING YOUR CARDS IN THE THREAD
Please post your cards in the thread listing which mystery items you have used.
MAILING YOUR CARDS
Send each card in its own ATC sleeve or in the 3 side by side baseball sleeve from the envelope I will send you.
I will provide the return envelopes. Send me a large address label and return postage equal to the amount of postage it cost you to send your cards to me.
AFTER YOUR RETURN CARDS ARE RECEIVED
When you receive your returns, please post in the swap thread that you have received them. Don’t forget to leave an iTrader for me and Your Rocks to the artists.
(Thanks to CastleQueen5 for starting this series; and Jfkasdown and NotInKansas for hosting rounds 2 and 3.)
