You're right about the traditional Irish dress resembling Scottish dress. Main difference seems to be the plaids are various green shades. I have seen some with long, full skirts and green fringed shawls, wearing a kerchief on their head. You are also right about finding what look like very different costumes representing one country;....or a similar costume representing different countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Scandinavian countries can look very similar). So that does make it easy to collect a "duplicate" of a country.

In a few days I should have pictures of some new little dolls. I am doing two Egypt girls so Linda can have a choice. One will be representative of the "ancient" attire, and the other will be more traditional (difficult to find!). Then I think I want to do a France (specifically Brittany) and maybe Turkey. I also think the Maori of New Zealand is very interesting....

Just finished some new dolls and will post pics in a few days. Egypt (ancient); France (Brittany); and Sweden. Thought I'd wait with the pics until after the site "migration/sync" thing is done. Please, if you are subscribed to this thread, do consider making some little doll cards and joining the fun!

I just discovered this thread today & all of these little dolls are adorable!. My hd/hp isn't up to snuff so I won't join in, but I'll keep lurking. This is such a fun, creative idea for trades.
Linda, I'm glad you like the ancient Egypt representation. I didn't even post a pic of the one I made for a more traditional choice. First of all, it was really hard to find any pictures, and then after I found one and drew her, I discovered she was most likely misrepresented, and looks a lot like Afghanistan instead. I will probably post her eventually, pics of their costumes are gorgeous - bright jewel-tone colors with lots of metallic dangles!
