NIK those amulet bags are a wonderful idea. Please please, if you host a swap for them drop me a pm so I can join. I have to admit I don’t go looking for swaps these days, I am happy with fewer commitments in my life right now. But this one I would be more than happy to participate.

Oh and I see the idea of domino books is going sort of viral again It seems like every time someone mentions the someone else hasn’t yet heard of them and once they see domino books they are already hooked. Love the fairytale domino jewelry in your share Mel

I just keep realising that I would have trouble with a few of the requests to make up a value of 15-20$. Take the amulet bags as an example, I have oodles and oodles of ribbon and string and even moe fabric already at home, not even mentioning beads. Would I then send two goodies to make up for value?
And since we are not supposed to know who gifts whom I realise I have to ask all the questions beforehand because I can not ask my assigned recipient later. Someone asked for a painted or mixed media canvas, for sturdiness sake, could that be a canvas board?

So, if you have materials already on hand...do your best to guess their value. You don't have to buy everything brand new. Everytime we have this swap, peeps undervalue their materials/ supplies...so I trust that the value will be met. After I assign everyone their partner...You can send questions thru me via PM.

Sorry...just realized that I only answered part of the question...Do your best to fulfill your partner's wish list, but if you've done that and still haven't met the $15-20 amount...you can make or add things. Maybe you made all or most of the wish list...or even just one of those things...and you still need to add more...send your favorite art pen...or sketchbook...or items that are used a lot in AFA swaps...check their gallery...what kind of swaps do they participate most in? That's a good way to figure out the extra's

Here are few more ideas that I spied on Pinterest. They are Luminaries and artist blocks.

I think it would be kinda nice to have a collection of 3 or 5 of these Artist Blocks.

    From Desert Dream Studio

    No link for these

    From The Little Shabby Shed

    From Saskia Obdejin

I love these luminaries...these are from Alisa Burke Tut in the link. ...battery operated candles would be fantastic for this project.

I love the idea of photos on a luminary. This person made it by taking a photo of his home...printing it on simple printer paper and scotch taped it around a glass votive. If it were me...I'd probably get a cylinder flower vase and tape it on the inside. The tut is from Hutch Studio

Just think of the possibilities of all the different luminary choices...here's one done with a lantern. Its from one King's Lane, but the link was a dead end.

    From Decoist

This person used old magazine pages...I was thinking that maybe the backside of the page would interfere with the transparent effect. I'd probably take the photo and reprint it on copy paper first.

I loved the tiny jar with the matches in the background of one of the lanterns. I suppose one would have to stick the igniting strip underneath or so...

Please sign me up Mel, my dear and as far as a Christmas list goes Artist's Choice is just fine with me.

    Please Note:

I know from past swaps that my US friends pay a lot to send small parcels to Canada. I got a shock when I was in one swap here at AFA (altered tins), and the price to send my returns to me was $25. I wanted to give my secret partner the heads up so that they're aware of the shipping costs.

If high shipping costs is a concern for you please read my profile for other options to send as a gift. FLAT options. I am currently also dabbling in encaustic wax where I use black and white photos and/or vintage ephemera and letters for collage. You can find folks on Etsy (European) that sell vintage ephemera and can send it to Canada with very little shipping costs. I hope this helps.

Notinkansas, those amulet bags are simply gorgeous! I'd love to give making one a whirl as I am currently taking an online course in jewelry making (Bohemian Jewelry). Megan, do you have an art altar? It sounds intriguing but I don't know what kind of art to make for an altar. Could you give me an example? Thanks.
