I'm sorry this is a hard one. I'll have a look and see if I can make the next one a bit easier. In the meantime, take a look at this page, what inspiration for a final fling! What do you think?

I think it was hard because I was doing mixed media and finding the correct hues and tones on the complimentary side was what made it hard. Then I needed to come up with the card itself...I love red and green at Christmas time but for some reason, I cant seem to make them work at any other time, probably because they are my least favorite colors...so...went into the tertiary because I LOVE purple...
Ann, the tough part is what makes it fun and challenging. If I am not challenged in some way, it ceases to build my skills.

I got happy mail! ThouArtDelyrias you wonderful cards have arrived. They are fabulous. They really put my collage work (I can't really use the term 'skills') to shame. I can learn an awful lot from these. I want to keep them all (yes! I know I can't).

Just out of interest, it looks as if you posted them on 3rd January - so they took 7 days to get here from the states. In the same batch of mail I received two Christmas cards from the UK posted airmail on 18th and 21st December. Who can understand the weirdness of the postal systems.

I think I waited too long on this one to get my cards done mailed and received on time. I'll definitely be looking for the next one though!

    Cards in the mail

I put these in the mail today. I have never been more frustrated by a set of cards. Since the focus of the swap is color I went with paint chips. Paint chips do not like glue. I used glue stick, Nori paste, Yes paste, and finally gel medium. When it dried and I bent the card all the little bits went SPRONGGG (I didn't bend it after the gel medium; the results might have broken me.) There is a chance that they will arrive in France as a little piles of scraps at the bottom of the sleeves. I would not be even a little surprised. If that happens, withdraw me from the swap. Next time I work with paint chip samples I will try roughing the back up with sand paper before I cut anything, unless someone has a better idea?

    So anyway:

Ooh, poor you. I must admit I don't think I've used paint chips very much. I know the ones here in France are very different to the US ones as I received some for the Monochrome swap and they are much, much larger for a kick off. Let's hope yours survive their journey. I know I use PVA glue for my embossed diecut scraps as I don't feel glue sticks (specially the cheap ones) are up to the task. I keep the cheaper ones purely for attaching my label to the back.

I don’t use glue sticks much either. I discovered Nori paste and love it. It dries slowly so you have a chance to adjust a piece and dries clear, but it can wrinkle on occasion. Yes paste is great for larger areas but you don’t get anytime to give things a schooch. I don’t know what the deal is with the paint samples and their resistance to glue. TruValue Hardware chain has paint samples on a sticky back that you can stick up on a wall. I haven’t tried working with them at all because Iowa doesn’t have TruValue stores. I was in one on vacation and only came away with a couple of samples, not complimentary colors.

maybe gel medium? I think the only glue stick that I totally rely on is the Tim Holtz one. it truely works. I also use Stampin' Ups' Fast Fuse for things like that because it works on anything. When I need a great stick, Tombow Mono liquid glue is a sure bet but have to keep a wipe handy to clean up side leaks.
