I have a random question for you ladiesÖ Does anyone know of an archival quality, permanent, waterproof ink? I got this really nifty glass pen for Christmas and have just started to use it to outline my drawings (I had been using sharpies). It works amazingly well and I love it, but the ink Iím using isnít waterproof. The name of it is Higgins Eternal black ink, and it states that itís permanent, but not waterproof. (Tho Iíll admit that by not being waterproof, the ink is easily rinsed off!) The problem is that when I go back over the drawings to paint them, the ink smudges a bit. It is permanent, but nonetheless it does bleed into my paint. This morning it bled into my orange paint and made mud. Dark mud. Grrrr! Very frustrating! Has anybody used India Ink? Is it permanent/waterproof? The only ink I can find at Michaels (which is the only craft store around) is the Higgins and Pelikan (not permanent/waterproof either). Does anyone know if the office supply stores carry bottles of ink?
Please be aware that I occasionally have vitreous hemorrhages in my sighted eye. It can take a week to a month (or longer) before it clears up & I'm able to see again. This means that, should you trade with me in any way, you may wind up waiting for your art until my vision clears. If that happens, I'll let you know as soon as possible.

I love India ink &, yes, it is permanent & waterproof. Google permanent/waterproof ink & I think there is a Higgins ink that works. Also, Google calligraphy & see what the calligraphers are using. Hope this is helpful I would love to try using a glass pen or dip pen but I'm too chicken. Is is difficult to learn?

LindyLu, thank you so much! I'm going to look tonight and see if I can't find some India ink on Amazon. And as for the glass dip pen, itís amazing! Itís not hard to learn at all. Itís a very similar feel to writing with a ballpoint. It holds ink awesomely well, and has an itty-bitty point on it, with maybe a touch more drag. As for line width, itís about the size of a fine point Sharpie. The delivery is smooth and continuous and lengthy! Right now Iíve been cleaning it off by sticking it in running water, and then drying it with a cotton ball. The worst thing about it is (for me) that itís glass and Iím not a graceful woman.

Glad it helped Syklops, actually it was Mel that introduced Mary Doodles videos to this group and I found this one on her channel.

Neener your Lady on the envie/card is beautiful!
