    ATART on February 15-18

Hi all, this is an open thread for ideas what we could have on February 15-18 when we are having an ATART. Feel free to comment. I have some ideas but you can thow as many new ideas you can .

This is the official thread for our ATART on February 15-18.

Sniisk is hosting. If you have questions, please put them in the thread. Answering PMs may take longer.

Start times, on Thursday Feb 15th right after the midnight in the first timezone, it is Wednesday afternoon in Europe and Wednesday early morning in the US. This a-thon will end when Sunday is turning to be Monday in the last timezone. However, don't take the given timelines too literally.

Because we are creating different sizes and forms of art here, it may be useful to inform others if your art piece differs from an ATC and is an inchie, a chunky or something else so we know the size.

    Optional challenges:

Thursday: Aquarius (the water barer) and Pisces (the fish)
Friday: Chinese New Year: the year of the DOG
    Saturday: AFA's Birthday!
Sunday: Stamp people, The Olympic Games

    ************************************************** *********

General a-thon info (for all ATARTs)

    What IS an ATART?
It’s an All Types of ART marathon where you can create art, made over the same time in each time zone. This thread is going to be our crafting room.

    HOW IT WORKS
Start creating art when it's time to start, then upload your lovely creations to your Athon gallery and post to the thread. Trading and chatting are going on all the time.
After all the trading is done move your creations OUT of the Athon Gallery and into their correct Galleries - 'Available ATCs' or 'Mail Art'

HOW TO ASK FOR A TRADE
When you find a piece of art you would like to trade, please SEND A PERSONAL MESSAGE (pm) to that person asking for a trade. Please DO NOT post requests for trades to the thread. It can get way too confusing.

Note: If you do make a trade, please be sure to send to your trade partner within two weeks. If you’re running late, communicate!

    WANT TO COMPLIMENT AN ARTIST
And you will… remember you can click the You Rock button and leave it there. And we have "Like" and "Thank" buttons too.

HOW TO POST YOUR ART TO THE THREAD
    From your atcsforall.com gallery:
It’s easiest to have two windows open.
    1) Go to your gallery and open the image you want to insert.
    2) Copy the row with [IMG] codes.
    3) Go to your post and hit the "insert image" button (looks like a postcard)
    4) Paste the copies [IMG] code.
    5) and then you're done.

Remember that images from the gallery can be small, medium or large. Find the word or letters s m l in the address and change it to 'small' or 's'.

NEW TO A-THONS? If you have any questions at all, feel free to pm me or post your questions to the thread. We have a lot of experienced art-a-thoners who are more than willing to help those of you new to this craziness.

Well as Ducky pointed out, the 17th is AFA's birthday. And the zodiac signs for Feb are Aquarius (the water barer) and Pisces (the fish) so fish and waterscenes are good themes

LOL I have been on Pintrest today. Some of the things I love viewing are altered Altoid Tins, Matchboxes and painted rocks. These are all pricey to mail but fun to make and collect.

Here On Feb 19th the Post offices will be closed, It is a national holiday called Presidents day. It used to be that George Washington's birthday and Lincoln's were celebrated on different days in Feb, (when I was a child=used to be). So now they are combined in one Holiday in February. So my suggestion was how about Stamp people as a theme. The heads of stamps like Lincoln or Washington, or the Queen or any stamp with a head. I find those cards fun.

I really think the USA should revamp their holidays. Close the PO and the schools for days that are worth celebrating. No one needs a day off to celebrate presidents.

I really would like to join in, but I have no camera!! Wait--I just got some birthday gift money....Yay! I'm shopping today, so will try to pick up a digital camera. I'll keep you posted. I've not done an ATART before. Do tip-in's or tags count?

i also use my phone most of the time
even though scanning makes a better picture, it is more work
    and the phone is fast
i email the pic to myself and open it on my computer and edit it before posting
i could probably post from my phone
but i like to make sure the focus is ok, clean up the edges and adjust the size, etc.

I use Gimp to to take extra are away from my pictures and also to resize items. I couldn't use a scanner because I have too bulky elements in my art.
