well.... I was at hobby lobby today, and got fabric for these bags. So might as well sign me up!

Do you have any particular pattern you want done?

Hi Suntrade! I believe Nik is leaving the method and style of the amulet bag as artist's choice. However, I think she wants us to keep it at around 2" by 2" in size, not including embellishments. Cording must also be part of the bag.

Speaking of cording - what are some of you using as cording? I think I'm going to try and make some nice cording using my lucet.

Ooh, what is a lucet? Is it pokey and spikey

I am going for a scrappy look on at least one bag and might wrap some fabric with yarn for a cord. And I also have some waxed sturdy cord, too...

Oooo, this sounds like such a fun swap, great idea Notinkansas!

I learned about amulet bags years ago and took a class on how to make them out of seed beads. I made about 7 seed bead bags at that time for family members and really loved designing them with different colors & fringe (entirely out of beads). They had such a beautiful tactile experience and really did feel magical!

Three bags made entirely out of seed beads would take too much time for a swap like this but I saw your reference photos on examples using fabrics and using the beads more for decoration. I really want to participate in this one so have marked it down on my to-do list.

However, I will need to make them first or at least start before officially signing up. I have a TON of really awesome beads (all different types) from that time long ago that I would love to take out and play with.

...Now to just find the right time to do that. It really helps that you have the due date marked for April. I take it that the bags should not include a magical something inside? or is adding a little something in the pocket also encouraged?

SunTrade, I am leaving the styling entirely up to the artist. You are only limited by your imagination. VL is correct tho, 2"x2" is about the size I am looking for as a guideline. Just to keep them all relatively similar.

Bluevioletz, the beaded bags are amazing! I would love to see pictures. I agree that they would be way to time consuming for what I had in mind for this swap. Hope to see you back.

Bluevioletz, that is a good question. Is it encouraged to send a tiny something inside the bag?

A beaded amulet bag is gorgeous but I do think trying to pump our three for this swap would be pushing it. I sure love the one I own from our talented Janina.

Making a lucet cord goes back to the Viking days Gemininorn, and it's a very relaxing activity to do. My little lucet is handmade, very small and should do the trick in making cording for a necklace. But I will make the amulet bag first to see what kind of cording would best suit it. Here's a little more about the lucet:

Oh, adding something inside the bag is totally at the discretion of the artist, definitely not a requirement.

That is sooooo tiny! I wish they were rectangular. What if they are 1/2 inch taller? NO? If not ok.

I used to make these out of seed beads, with beautiful patterns...
