Sign me up please. These cards are a little different for me as lately I’ve been compelled to draw/paint my own focal images. And the 4th card was a personal challenge to see if I could fit nine(!) cat images on one card. Love the cat quotes-great swap idea! Mailing out today.

Do you think that in the future the dogs deserve a swap? I wonder.

I was challenged by using text on the cards...but I made it work out. The kitty with the house is feral and 'fixed' because the ear is tipped. Here are my cards:

Once upon a time, our neighborhood had feral cats. Jenny fed them, and then she moved. Rita fed them and then she moved. They came to my house.

There was Winter, a siamese, Named such due to being white, and she was a mean cold bitch. She would hiss at you but expect you to feed her daily.

Then there was Autumn a much nice Calico.

And then a black cat that only seemed to come around at night so we called it Midnight.

Then winter got preggers and had 4 kittens.
This orange tom cat was the inpregnator. These cats all lived over at the empty foreclosed house. SO I got help, and trapped them and got them fixed. the 4 kittens, Midnight turned out to be female, Winter and Autumn. I never caught Tom cat, I tried. And Patches got into the last cage twice, and since she was a stray, she got fixed. Patches in the only one left. We live close to a what Phoenix calls North Mountain preserve. Coyotes come down into our neighborhood.

They also might have moved on. Patches is now an indoor outdoor cat. WE have to drag her inside out of the heat. I think she prefers to be outside and fed outside, we prefer her not dead from heat exhaustion. She has a box on a chair in the kitchen she will sleep in or she sleeps on the arm of my couch.

So I like feral cats. Feral cats need love too.

Ok YESTERDAY, I had to fold an endless mound of laundry. I can wash and dry fine, it is the putting away that holds me up. I had so many ratty towels. I decided to take them to the Humane society. They have a thrift store.

I Have noticed that often my trip to the humane society to donate often cost me quiet a bit.

I found the most awesome deal on two BUCKETS of craft stuff. 50% off day so the $20 buckets cost $10.

You can see my haul on my flickr.com account

CastleQueen5, congratulations on being able to TNR (trap, neuter/spay, release) the wandering cats. We had the same problem in my neighborhood when many houses were in foreclosure. Some of the cats were just left behind as people were forced out. It is very sad but we make the best of the situation.

My cat was feral. She too had kittens in my yard. The kittens were fixed, tamed and adopted out with the help of a rescue. I kept the mother cat since she would not be adoptable. I assumed she would remain feral and just come for food...but over the following 6 years...she is quite tame. She does not come in the house but has a little door into the garage that only opens for her (it is programmed to her microchip). She comes in at night to get canned food and I lock the little door. We open it up in the morning.

That's quite a haul, CQ5! I love your story about the feral cats and yours, too, Lorna. I have one feral cat - Miss Miniver, a tortie, that I've had for about 14-15 years now. She was wild as can be, but she lets me pet her and likes to sit close to a warm body. Doesn't like to be held, but really you wouldn't know she's feral. Once I went on a vacation and my son let her get out of the house and she went completely wild again - I had to trap her to bring her back in the house. Once she was inside the house, she became friendly again. I never let her out again... she's really a sweetheart and I love her.

I should add even though I looked at the cats and dogs, I did not bring home another animal. I was proud of me. So sad about all the poor animals that need homes.
