Hand painted Teabag portraits due Canceled

Hand Painted teabag portraits swap, due December 24th
Signup/withdraw date - none but please keep me informed.
    Number of teabags - 3 for 3
    Number of participants - Unlimited

I recently signed up for a bundle of online courses, amongst them was one hosted by Jeanne Marie Webb where she paints portraits on teabags. I've just completed my first one and it looks so cool. I would love to make some to swap on here.

You do not have to purchase her course, although you can if you want to. She has lots of videos and goes into depth on her process.

Here is an example (my first one ever!). I will paint more for the swap and add pictures when done.

I will briefly explain below what to do.

    - Collect x3 teabags (can be round or square or even with tags kept on). If they have been used then they must have not been in contact with milk as this could make them deteriorate.
-Dry the teabags (if used). Then gently make a small opening along the seam to tip out the tea leaves.
-Prep them with gesso, allow to dry.
-Using acrylic paint, paint your portrait.
-when dry seal with an artist's spray varnish.

    Rules-
1- Hand painted in acrylics only as per instructions above.
2- Please varnish with a spray varnish.
    3. Please send each teabag with a small slip of paper or a blank atc with user name and any other info you wish to add.
    4. Host teabags will be treasured should you wish to include one but are not required to participate.
    5. Where possible I will exchange effort for effort to the best of my ability and dependant on teabags received.

    Postage info
    1. The due date is 24th December. Please be mindful that I am in the UK so allow plenty of time for posting to me. Any late teabags will be returned to senders. I intend to swap out promptly after due date.
    2. Please pm me when you are ready for my address to send.
    3. Please package carefully to ensure they reach me undamaged, and send in individual plastic sleeves or similar protective covering.
I will need a large return address label or piece of paper with your address on it, but I will supply my own envelopes.
    4. UK players please send either a first or second class stamp for return postage.
International players please send either $2 USA or contact me to pay via paypal.

I will no longer be sending back returns at my own expense for players who forget to pay, or do not send enough for their returns. If you have multiple returns for more than one of my swaps and want them sending together please discuss with me in advance so I can advise you on the correct price. Thank you for understanding.

    Who wants to play?

Lurking- I'd rather get mine done before signing up, so I will check back in later. I've got lots of tea bags saved for this purpose I just haven't taken the time to attempt it yet.
HD/P is not my best talent, &faces a challenge!
Must they be HUMAN portraits? 😸

Also, does it need to be regular sized teabags, or are the larger family-sized okay? Although I guess the larger ones wouldn't fit in a card sleeve, would they?!

Catladybj so glad to see some interest you can use any size/shape of teabag although I am not familiar with a family size as I do not think we have those here in the UK.

I have some 1 3/4 x 2.5 inch which are cool as they have the tags I've left on. I also have 2.5 inch rounds. Both these fit in atc sleeves nicely.

The example I posted above is actually 2.75 x 2.75 inches.

For convenience I will probably use for this swap the teabags that fit in sleeves. You don't have to though as long as you can protect them in a similar manner for transporting/protecting.

Sorry we are doing human portraits this time BUT they can be whimsical so proportions don't have to be realistic.

    Hope that helps.

I am thinking if there are no sign ups in the next few days I will be cancelling.

Here are teabags I have done so far, hope they inspire. Sorry the lighting is not great.

I have been looking for an excuse to try this form of art.
I have one small query - Rule No 3 states to include an ATC ...... is that a blank, one with details or artwork to match the teabag?
    Just wondering .......

Hey Bex! I am not confident of my portrait abilities, but would definitely join if you decide to do an open theme. In the meantime, I'll be checking out whatever anyone makes for this one.
If I comment on your stuff it's a sure sign I'd love to trade!

TSMarie I may run an open theme swap at a later date. I am going to go ahead and cancel this one now due to not having enough interest.
