ATCoins: "Foreign" Text Background - Due January 28, 2019

ALL RETURNS WERE POSTED ON 29 JANUARY 2019

Swap Due Date: 28 January 2019
Signup/ Withdraw by Date – None, but please communicate!
    Number of ATCs - 3:3
    Number of participants: unlimited
Media: Open/mixed but please note that HD/HP coins must feature a text background

Like many of us here, I've been very into creating and collecting ATCoins lately. I'm combining this interest with another of my interests: ATCs which feature a background made from "foreign" - that is, not-in-English - text.

Your coins may be any media you like, as long as the background to the coin is a piece of text in a language other than English. So if HD/HP is your thing, you are welcome to draw or paint on your coin, as long as you are drawing/paiting on a text background. Collage and mixed media are welcome as well. Please note that I cannot guarantee to swap like for like in terms of media.

    Swap requirements:

    • your three coins must be original, though they may be similar
    • please try to keep cards flat and light, or enclose extra postage for bulkier cards
    • please sign up by posting in this thread
    • All ATCoins must be a precisely cut or punched circle that is 2.5” in diameter and they must be on sturdy cardstock
    • Each completed ATCoin should be in an individual plastic sleeve
    • Please include your forum username on the back of each card - I really like it when people include their real names and locations as well, but it's not a requirement
    • Players are encouraged to post photos of their cards in the thread, though again, it's not a requirement. We like to see what you are doing!
    • Please do your best work, and make coins of a quality that you would like to receive

    Postage requirements:

    • I am in the UK, so be sure to leave plenty of time to mail your coins
    • All players please enclose a decent-sized address label or SAE
    • UK players, a 1st or 2nd class stamp should be sufficient
    • Players in the US: please enclose $2 or two global forever stamps. It will cost me £1.45 to send your returns (about $1.88), providing they are flat and light. If your cards are bulkier, please enclose extra postage. Please DO NOT stick your stamps on your envelopes if you are sending envelopes. I can't use your postage to send your returns back - oddly enough, the UK post office expects me to use UK stamps. I can only use your postage to play in other swaps, so it needs to be loose, so I can send it to other hosts.
    • Rest of world players: as US players or contact me for other options
    • Alternatively, I am happy to take paypal to cover postage; pm me for my paypal address

Here are a few examples of coins made using non-English text backgrounds. The cat coins were made for another recent swap, the first three were made as demos for this swap:

A few more examples of coins (and a card) using text backgrounds, just to give you a little more inspiration.

Betsyg - like you I managed to nab a foreign language book at a Library sale, in my case it was a Russian dictionary. Could I be cheeky and use some of my leftover Old English textbooks - they certainly don't LOOK like English? (see example in thumbnail)

Welcome to all the newly signed up players: bluskyhare, miss, ornamentations, donnacr, bluesky, vegan4animals.

Donnacr, I think Old English is fine for the purpose of this swap

I would also say for anyone wondering that I think non-English to English dictionaries are ok, too, even though they will have some English in them as well as whatever language.
