Snow Day

We have just had our first snowfall of the season here in Southeastern Pennsylvania. It is a bit early for us, but it did give me the idea for this Swap!!

How do you envision a snow day? Do you bundle up and rush out to create a towering snowman? Perhaps you curl up in front of a roaring fire with a good book? Maybe the family gathers together to play board games while drinking a warm cup of hot chocolate. Tradition here was to come in the house after shoveling the drive, and indulge in a grilled cheese sandwich with a steaming cup of tomato soup! One of my favorite things is to see the beautiful snow covered trees, before the blue sunny skies begin to melt the glistening snow from the branches.

For this Swap, your ATCs should feature how you see snow days. If you live in an region where you do not get to enjoy the beauty of nature’s snowfalls, then your cards can feature your interpretation or dreams of a perfect snowfall. Wherever your imagination takes you! Be sure to create something that you would be happy to add to your own collection. Host cards are not required to play, but if you chose to send one, I will cherish it!

Cards are to be standard ATC size, 3 1/2 X 2 1/2. The cards should be straight and sturdy, and in individual plastic sleeves. Please include swap name, user name, your real name, date and location on the back of all cards.

US participants: Please send a large address label and a forever stamp. If your cards are heavy and or bulky, remember to include extra postage. I will provide all envelopes!!

International participants: Please send large address label and a well concealed US dollar bill. I will supply envelopes! Any questions? PM me.

When your cards are ready to mail, send me a pm for my address. If you have my address from a previous swap, it has not changed.

Please try to mail your cards early!! I like to be prompt in sending out your returns!

When you do receive your returns, please be kind enough to leave “you rock” points for the artists whose cards you received. If you feel that I have done a good job as a host, please leave an ITrader for me.

Who would like to join in the fun?

What a lovely idea! I moved to Florida 16 years ago and this year i do miss the big glistening snow flakes and evergreens covered in snow. Sign me up!

I used to be in the military, and I was always considered 'mission essential', meaning I had to show up for work no matter what. One time my tires actually froze to the driveway and I had to walk to work! Luckily it was a shortish walk. Another time I had to tundra my way out of a snowbank after work...imagine driving your 4-door sedan like it was a 4x4! Finally, towards the end of my career I was moved to a non-mission essential position, and I was so giddy the first time I had a snow day! I ran to all the windows watching the snow fall, then running back to bed....then I called work to make sure my mission-esstial folks were okay and didnt need anything...then back to my warm bed. Now I am in a place that doesnt get snow, and I kind of miss it.

That was a really long winded way to say that I LOVE this theme and I am lurking with intent. ;)

Wow Foxglove! I bet you were happy to move to that non-mission essential position! Sounds like you had some interesting travel experiences. The snow is beautiful though. Maybe it is worth the inconveniences that it sometimes causes.

Cold weather is coming! We are expecting the coldest Thanksgiving Day temperatures since 1901. Fortunately there is no snow in the forecast! That would not be very nice for the tahanksfiving Day parades!!

Happy Thanksgiving to those in the States tomorrow!! It is going to be cold enough for snow tomorrow..... but it is supposed to be a dry cold!

The township that I live in has a yearly snowman building contest! We don’t always have enough snow to even build a proper snowman, but when we do have a moderate snowfall, we see lots of snowmen popping up in the yards. They also have a contest where you predict when the first snow will be. This year, we had a very early first snow. I am not sure that they even set up the snow predicting contest for this year!! We had a late first killing frost, and then bam! We had our first snow!

Come and join our Snow Day Swap! It will be lots of fun!!

I remember it snowed twice in Phoenix, in all the years I have lived here. Of course it was only in the air and didn't even last on the ground. Once it was enough to write SNOW on the windshield of the car, and take a photo. Remember cameras with film? The photo didn't come out. That had to be in 1991.
