I got this old envelope at the antique store. I was amused that there was a grocery list on the back. But then i realized it was a recipe?! Has anybody heard of putting ammonia in sugar cookies? This is a huge recipe - 8 pounds of flour. (The date on the front of the envelope is Dec 6 1939, Troy Ohio.)

Dang, Google just answered my own question:
BAKER'S AMMONIA (AMMONIUM CARBONATE): Don't confuse this with ordinary household ammonia, which is poisonous. A type of baking powder, it yields a very light, airy product, but can impart an ammonia flavor to baked goods.

javazarf, what a great find! I bet the recipe was for church or social club use. why else would you need to make 8lbs of flours worth of cookies?!

I agree, probably cookies for a church or school.
A great find - however, I don't think i can use it as I intended to do a vintage collage. I get to thinking about the woman who wrote this and not sure I can glue it to an atc. The front of the envelope has her name and address, which I looked up. I get to attached to some stuff for no reason really. It is odd that I got two vintage postcards the same day and I don't feel the attachment to them. I am keeping one and giving one away.
My recipe still debating what to do with it.

You could photocopy it, age the copy a bit and use that for collage - although it's not technically vintage.

I agree with Haagmm, Java. I bought a dozen old photos this summer, and photocopied them. I've used one of them for crrr's by copying and reducing the size. I may use the actual photos at some point, but I'm not ready yet.
You could use it as a tip-in and stuff it with a tag, maybe.

Good morning, drinking cup one of java juice. Later today I will take my cRRR to a friends house and work on them. So I will have envelopes out today or tomorrow. I will be back later with an update and photos.

I like BluSkyHare’s suggestion of using the envelope as a tip in, in a journal, and putting tags in it. I’ve also got a vintage envelope, wondered what to do with it, and now I know!

I need to fire up the scanner so that I can use my stuff as a copy and not an original. I have lots of photos too - most are too big for ATCs. Maybe this weekend.
I follow a person on youtube that makes envelope journals, junk journals, prayer pockets, Bible journaling and other things.

To all the Crrr players hosting swaps--sorry I haven't been playing in swaps for a few months (just one or two--here and there). my 2019 binder is almost completely full of atcs, AND I've been working on journaling and canvas painting.
Oh, and crrrr of course.
But thank you so much to those of you who joined my swaps this year! Once 2020 is here I'll be swap-playing again!
