TURTLES/TORTOISE

*Turtles are reptiles with hard shells that protect them from predators. They are among the oldest and most primitive groups of reptiles, having evolved millions of years ago. Turtles live all over the world in almost every type of climate.

Turtles spend most of their lives in water. They are adapted for aquatic life with webbed feet or flippers and a streamlined body. Sea turtles rarely leave the ocean, except to lay eggs in the sand. Freshwater turtles live in ponds and lakes, and they climb out of the water onto logs or rocks to bask in the warm sun.

Tortoises are land animals. Their feet are round and stumpy, adapted for walking on land, they also dig burrows with their strong forelimbs, and slip underground when the sun gets too hot.*

This is an open media swap. You can collage, draw, or go wherever your creative juices take you. Your turtle/tortoise can be realistic, or perhaps you’d like to create a turtle with a bright, colorful shell. Maybe a zentangle shell..... the sky’s the limit! Be sure to create something that you would be happy to add to your own collection. Host cards are not required to play, but if you chose to send one, I will cherish it!

Cards are to be standard ATC size, 3 1/2 X 2 1/2. The cards should be straight and sturdy, and in individual plastic sleeves. Please include swap name, user name, your real name, date and location on the back of all cards.

US participants: Please send a large address label and a forever stamp. If your cards are heavy and or bulky, remember to include extra postage. I will provide all envelopes!!

International participants: Please send large address label and a well concealed US dollar bill, US stamps are fine too. I will supply envelopes! Any questions? PM me.

When your cards are ready to mail, send me a pm for my address. If you have my address from a previous swap, it has not changed.

Please try to mail your cards early!! I like to be prompt in sending out your returns!

When you do receive your returns, please be kind enough to leave “you rock” points for the artists whose cards you received. If you feel that I have done a good job as a host, please leave an ITrader for me

Oh, I want to play. While in the Galápagos Islands I saw such wonderful giant tortoises and also sea turtles eyeing the shore (our tour leader thought that they would be coming ashore in the next few days to lay eggs). Hopefully before the due date my fractured wrist from that fall in the Galapagos will be better and my drawing hand will be healed enough for me to draw again...otherwise you may be getting “other hand creations”.

Welcome jo.on.the.go! It must have been wonderful to see those giant tortoises and sea turtles! I do hope that your wrist is healing nicely!

Thanks for checking out the Swap, smallgirl. I hope you will find time to join us.

There are so many ways to create beautiful turtle art! We need a few more artists here :D
