And I made WAY too many cards for this swap. I had my arm in a sling for 3 months so I need the practice desperately. Are any of these something you would NOT consider whimsical. (I'm attempting to narrow down, so if any stand out as not fitting, let me know.)

I think a lot of folks are a little intimidated by HD/HP swaps. Personally, I love them. Drawing and painting is my first love. Lately, I seem to be doing a lot of collage and I'm missing the drawing. Hopefully, I still know how! My brain tends to want to draw realistically, so whimsical is always a challenge. But I'm willing to try!

It's sad to me that people don't feel confident enough to try HD. My avitar is one of my earliest attempts at drawing and painting and it's a little rough. I still have it and it's a good measurement of how my artistic eye has developed through the years. I like that, because sometimes I compare myself to others with far more developed ability and get discouraged. I think we all go there sometimes.

I like both kinds of art, but I actually find collage work more difficult. It's hard for me to get away from a "scrapbook page" type of layout, ie, just balancing images in a pleasing way and into something artistic, that expresses me and not the greeting card I cut up. Zetti helps with that. I think it's my favorite form of collage.

I'm still such a beginner with my drawing and it is VERY intimidating when I see other artists who have actual God-given talent in this area! I did sign up for the Mermaid swap and posted images of the ones I sent as well as the ones I was too embarrassed to send. My head was too small in one, in another the arms weren't the same size, I used the wrong marker in all of the first ones. They just weren't very good! But, I'm learning. I did make some that I thought weren't half-bad that I was able to trade, but it took like an hour to draw each one.

    Dear KSJ1717

I know the feeling of being discouraged when seeing others people art. BUT...... 1st everyone has to start some where. The only way to get better is to keep practicing. Over and over and even more over and over..it is the only way to improve drawing. i have been practicing for over 45 years..LOL. 2nd STOP.....do not compare yourself to others..if the creators of beavis and butthead or sponge bob did that they would have never gotten to where they are at. Everyone has their own unique style. Look at folkart drawing. The point i am trying to make is- find a cartoonist you like and keep practicing that style. I promise you will get to where you want to be. 3- i believe that is what this site is about.. people who are not premo illustrators....they are people who love making art.
please do not stress over drawing it defeats the purpose of doing art. relax and just draw. It may not be where you want it to be but you will get there.

As an aside, I took a watercolor class and found out the artist teaching the class uses tracing paper to "draw" her images. I was so imtimidated by her paintings until she showed me how she did it. I also know of a couple of artists on here who use tracing paper to get their proportions right. Everyone is learning, and just because someone elses art looks perfect, it doesn't mean they didn't have help

I can't draw anything without a reference photo. Except maybe a horsey, since I drew them constantly as a kid, lol.

Okay, I accidentally posted these to the wrong thread the first time, ha ha! But here are my cards. They're all packaged up and ready to mail today.

I'm wondering if I should follow the White Rabbit into this creative world ...?
IMPORTANT ... All overseas traders - please make sure all envelopes are well taped up as I've had some arrived torn
    Love to trade!
Sometimes I go quiet ... I have fibromyalgia and it can limit my creativity at times
