Swap due date: August 9, 2019

Number of cards: 3 for 3

Number of participants: 25 maximum

Another inspired artist swap. This time it is Vincent Van Gogh. So much potential with this creative artist.

A self-taught Post-Impressionist artist. Post impressionism extended Impressionism while rejecting its limitations: they continued using vivid colours, often thick application of paint, and real-life subject matter, but were more inclined to emphasize geometric forms, distort form for expressive effect, and use unnatural or arbitrary colour.

Here are some of works:

I’ll lurk for now. Sounds exciting, but I’m trying to whack out the cards for swaps with sooner due dates first! Are these supposed to be cards resembling paintings that Van Gogh has done, or simply taking his style as inspiration? Either way, sounds fun!

Any way you are inspired. You can definitely take his style as inspiration and a starting point. Have fun and hope you sign up.

Great choice sarat!:jiggy:

I'm lurking for the moment. I have to see how the technique goes at this scale. Starry Night was my favorite painting as a child. I miss the east, where I could get on a bus to see Starry Night most any time. It is at the New York City MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). If I recall, Van Gogh did olive trees too.

I am thinking of using his techniques on the local landscape. I found a website that also has his drawings (including the study for Starry Night). https://www.vangoghgallery.com/catalog/catalog.html

So I will study and sketch and get back...
