Hello Addicts! Just thought I'd share a video with ya all the video is quite long...if you're in the mood to watch it through, be my guest. It's about an hour long. As for me, I skipped throughout. It's a DIY that was inspired by an article in Somerset magazine. The Youtuber is showing you how to make "Slender Collage Journals" Enjoy!

Gosh Mel, your gifs are getting better and better

I have received my June trade from Schona, a beautiful tangled envelope, I already gave her her well deserved iTrader.

Ahhh, Nicky... I have just received your amazing Tom Hiddleston envelope; I am absolutely delighted!!
I realize now, that I do not have to 'colour' the entire envelope (big learning curve!)
Next time I just might try sending it 'naked'... see how CanadaPost handle it!
I do hope your envelope arrives soon.

Hey folks. I thought I'd share with you what I have learned about making those cloth wax food wraps from the video that was posted here. Been making some for a bit and have learned things that might help if you want to try it.

First off all beeswax is not created equal. I started with some cosmetic grade pellets that I had from making salves. It's white and apparently more refined. It wasn't really sticky enough and didn't soften with the warmth of your hands. So I got some organic yellow beeswax and that workes tons better

More is better. If you want these to work be prepared to use a fair aamount of wax and a lot of parchment paper. I found that if you are working with a square of fabric I just pile the pellets in the middle, melt them with the iron and work it out from there. It makes getting the edges easier than she did in the video.

I also only work with one piece at a time. I think you get better coverage that the way she did two pieces together. It just works better for me.

Be prepared to get wax everywhere, and to get sticky. Goo gone and some soap cleaned up my hands the best.

Once you have your fabric covered, pick up your piece by the corners and let it cool before you lay it down to finish. If you lay it down while it is too warm it will stick to your paper and then when you peel it off it messes up the wax.

The other problem I had was with a piece of fabric that was red and white checked. The red, even though it had been washed and heat set bled with the wax. So maybe lighter more neutral colors are better. I was just using fabric that I had in my stash.

Hope this helps if anyone else is going to try it. It sure beats overpaying for them if you have the time to mess with it.

Thank you for this info Neener, I was thinking recently I could do with the wax cloth wraps, but I am also currently heavily destashing. I have to paint my bedroom and that is where I have all my supplies and tons of fabrics so a lot will have to go. I was thinking to post in the destash forums but there doesn’t seem to be much turnout there so:
anybody interested in some Prismacolour Verithin coloured pencils (slightly used) or some Spectrum Noir coloured pencil sets (also slightly used)? If not I will just peddle them to my local art group if someone there wants anything... I am just never using them ever, and haven’t for the last 3years or so. I also have tons of seed beads if anybody wants some?

Beverly: that is the best thing: You can do to/with your envelopes whatever you feel like, colour the whole thing, just a portrait or an arty scetch, some collage or Gelli prints... the possibilities are endless

Received great PC from Jazzie for last months trade. Tyranny of distance makes it a slow process but it's still fun.

Glad to hear that Envie's are landing! I have my partner's Envie complete and will mail it out on Friday. (That's the only draw back to doing a wax seal...I'm not sure if it will survive the heat going from my place. So, I gotta take it to the post office. Also, it's going to another California address. So, I hope it survives! LOL) We'll find out soon!

J, that's good to know about the wax covers. I did hear from one of the Youtube vids that the thinest cloth work best as well. I haven't got any scraps to use, so when I'm able to get to this project, I wanna get something with a Bee motif

Nicky, I have your handsome Envie pinned up!
