So I had thought pismire was archaic, but the OED (Oxford English Dictionary) refers to it as regional. The first example was from 1395, but there are a few examples from the 21st century! I liked this example from The Rocky Mountain News (Denver) back in 2003. It is an example from the 2nd definition which is derogatory for an insignificant person who behaves like an ant.

Bitter, petty little pismires like this letter writer, who is devoid of vision and rendered incoherent by his irrational anger.

So if you want to be erudite, you can talk about how the pismires have gotten into your kitchen.
