Continuous Random Round Robins - 12
If you think 3 heads are better than one when it comes to making ATCs this is the place for you.
We are a fun group of ATC makers who like to spread the making of ATCs around to more than one person.
Here is how to get started……………..
First you sign up in the thread and tell us what themes you do not want so I can add your name to the list in the 1st post.
Next you PM your mailing address and any dislikes to me so I can add it to the address list. I will update this list as players come and go or change their status.
If you wish to take a break from playing at any time all you need to do is post in the thread if you want to let everyone one know and send me a pm so I can make it official by changing the list. I will move you to the HOMERS ONLY section of the address list until you ask me to change it. This way you will still get any you have started that have been completed by others but you should not get any new ones. If you do get new ones, please let me know in a pm.
To keep cards from being sent to inactive players I will move you to the HOMERS ONLY section of the address list if you have been inactive on the site for a month. Once you become active again you can pm me and ask to be placed back into active status.
And here is how a Round Robin works…………
Player 1 starts it off by starting 3 cards. These cards need to be more than a preprinted background. Please put something on them. On the back please put ATCS FOR ALL RANDOM ROUND ROBIN or AFA RANDOM RR at the top (so we know where it came from as there are 2 round robin groups) along with at least your user name. Mail all 3 cards to Player 2.
Player 2 will work on the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Mail all 3 cards to Player 3.
Player 3 will finish the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Keep 1 card and mail the other 2 back to Player 1. It is OK to detour from this way to mail back if you feel it helps the other players! Unless you know for sure it is ok you should ask player 1 what they want you to do
Player 1 will keep 1 card and mail the other one to Player 2.
VERY IMPORTANT ~ Please remember to look at the most current list before sending cards to anyone to make sure they are still playing.
EQUALLY IMPORTANT ~ Please check what cards a player DOES NOT WANT. Do not send unwanted themes to anyone as they must pay to send them on to someone else .
If you get a set of cards and you have no idea what to do with them, just send them on to someone else.
Feel free to post eye candy whenever you want. Part of the fun of being in a Round Robin is seeing who is doing what. You can post them when you get them before you add anything, after you have added something or when you get a completed set. If you don't have a scanner or are not sure how to post them it is ok. Posting is not a requirement to join and have fun. There are no Round Robin Police sent to visit if you don't!
And you never have to say who you are sending to unless you want to.
And last but not least…………
iTraders: They are fun to give and fun to get so please remember them. Once you have a completed card you can give them to both the other players. When giving them you are the trade.

Welcome to the new thread!!
Hope everyone is finding it.
I thought with a fresh start we might do a bit of housekeeping with the list so here is a question for you all!
I have some requests to add likes to some players. I am close on characters, so I need to remove and change things up some to accommodate the requests.
Here is the question………. how many of you look at the “likes” section before sending things?
Since we call this random everyone is supposed to be open to anything except things that they really don’t like which is why we have the “no” section.
I was thinking if we deleted the “likes” it will free up lots of characters and we can always go look at profiles if likes are really that important to you as a sender.
Please give me some feedback on the thread or in a pm so we as a group can decide if the “likes” stays or goes.
Thanks all!!

The likes are handy, that's for sure.
The likes line could be limited to a certain number of characters, if that would help. One could, and probably should, check a player's profile for more details.
I'd be agreeable to eliminating likes as a last resort.
-
I'm okay with eliminating likes and checking profiles instead.

I find the likes immensely helpful. Sure, I could send everything out completely randomly, but I personally love getting a set that just screams me. And I like doing the same for others.
Also, likes in what we want to collect (what most of us state in our profiles) might not be the same as our RR likes!
All in all I know that I didn't look at the profiles a lot before, especially because the amount of info given is so different - one profile is sparse and gives you pretty much nothing to work with, another is so detailed that I drown in it.
So, I personally love the likes and would be grateful if we kept them and as many of us as possible had them. Not as a "must" or even a "should", but for inspiration and assistence.
Maybe they could be packed in a seperate PM? Or is that too much hassle?
Oh, they could also be added to the first post, if everyone is okay with that... likes are not really secret like addresses, right?
Hugs, Sarah

Now THAT seems like a really good idea. That could unburden the LIST and would be easily revised via PM to xstitcher (if she is agreeable and it doesn't cause too much more work for her, that is.)

I do look at likes occasionally, but I think that I could live without them. I am ok with whatever is decided. I can adapt to pretty much everything!

I do not want the likes info to go away. I depend on it and I don’t want to have to go to everyone’s profile when I send out a mailing. Moving the info to the first post is a good idea if you don’t want it on the group pm anymore. I always have the most recent pm open when I’m getting envelopes filled. It’s nice to have all the important info all in one place.

Also I’ve been gathering up some cool alphabets and am going to make a set from A to Z. I’ve taken note of some of you who want to participate and with 26 sets, there will be plenty to go around. I may make extra sets of some of the letters. And as with all my starters, anything goes.

Signing in to the thread, I think... The likes list is okay....
-
I do check the likes as I try to respect other people's preferences.
I am completely open myself as I can always choose to keep or send on any set.
And I like the challenge of making any set into something I'd like.
I appreciate all you do maintaining this thread, xstitcher, so if eliminating likes is what works for you, I'm OK with it.
If it works to put it in the first post that's okay with me, too.
Also, I finally finished all my current sets -- will post pics soon and send them all out.
And I am ready to leave the Homers Only list and be active again. Thanks!

I personally like the "like list". I do try and look at it when choosing the next players. I would actually like it if more players had their likes on there. When I see some that don't have any, I'm not so sure they'd like the cards or not. I personally do love to receive cards that are "me"! I agree that a list on the first post (perhaps where the list of names are) would be a great idea.

Overseas players ... when sending to me please tape up envelopes well as some arrive quite battered.
Always happy to trade

I woke up in the middle of the night and THIS was one of the things on my mind, lol.
I was wondering if you could save a lot of characters by replacing the cute little emojis (which I love) with a simple letter. Like D for dissimilar. I assume they count characters according to how many are used for the HTML coding?
And maybe limit our number of likes.
But you guys may have gone beyond this stage already. Just some thoughts.
I'm cool with whatever. Like mrubyjean said, we always have the option of passing cards along to someone else if they don't appeal to us.

Plumhill makes a good point about replacing emojis. The other idea I had was to strip the likes out from those on homers only. Would that be too much of a disruption?

Just checking in.
I have to be honest, I've not checked the likes list very much. I do pay attention to the dislikes list.
It does make sense to remove the likes from those on homers since they will get what they've already contributed to.

I wanted to get all caught up on my crrrs before starting any new sets. I spent the weekend working on all the sets in my crrr box and took everything to the post office this morning. Envelopes went out to ArtsyOne, BluSkyHare, CastleQueen5, Chimerix, ChronicReader, Clar42ie, Collagaint Ashley, Karr3ll, Katelnorth, Lindagiese, LucyMc, Suzi, Sweetgypsy, and ThouArtDelyrias.
Karr3ll I didn’t have any more alpha sets to work on but I did finish up your Queen of Hearts APC set. Love it!

The problem I see in doing this is that it causes xstitcher more work to put them back in when someone becomes active again. But I don't suppose that happens very often so maybe it's not an issue for her.

Agreed ArtsyOne, that could be an issue. I'd think it would be up to the person getting back in to share at the same time they are re-joining. But it does mean more work for xstitcher; just don't know how much.

Thank you for taking time to comment on the likes issue. I have read them all and will try to address them now. If I miss something I am sorry.
To give you an idea of how many characters I have to work with looking at the last list I sent including the short note I added I have 25 characters left to work with!
3 of the emojis are 2 characters and the newest one is 5 so if I took them all down to 1 letter instead it would still only be less than 150 more characters.
I am also limited to 10,000 in a post. Just because I can I copied and pasted all the likes we already have (not including changes and additions I have not made yet because I don’t have the room) and there are only 92 characters left!
Stripping the likes of “homers only” players while not impossible would mean I have to keep track of them somewhere else and add them back when I moved a player back to “active”. As it is now all I need to do is cut and paste between the lists. If we said once you come back you need to let me know if you want likes I would still have to cut and paste or type them.
From what I am seeing a lot of you want the likes left so I think we need to keep them, we just need to decide where those of you who use them the most want them.
There are a couple of options I can think of.
One would be to ask Carole to split the 1st post like we do on PATs which should give us plenty of characters for a while. With this option the 1st post will be the top part explaining everything and the 2nd one would have both lists. Keep in mind you would need to work off 2 lists because the addresses and the dislikes will not be there. We can have the dislikes there, but never the addresses because the thread is not private to our round robin group or even the members of ATCS FOR ALL.
Another would be to split the list with addresses. This would mean you would have 2 lists, one “active” players and the other “homers only” players. And the addresses would be with the likes and dislikes.
I’m sure there are other options, but these are all I can think of now. If you have a different or better suggestion, please let me know.
I would like to resolve this as soon as we can because I have a player wanting likes added.
So, in conclusion………. we will keep the likes and what we need to do is decide how and where we want to see them. Also do we want to move the dislikes to the same place or keep them where with the address no matter what we do with the likes.
I should have time this weekend to make whatever changes we decide so if we can “discuss” it and arrive at a consensus before then that would be wonderful.
Thank you all for your input so far. Keep it coming.

It looks to me that the easiest way is to split the LIST into two parts. Active and homers. This keep you from having to type anything new when a homers player goes active - just cut and paste.
I would not have any problem with two lists. And it would be beneficial to have likes and dislikes together with the names and addresses.
