Post-Christmas/NY ATART Dec 27 to Jan 5, '21
This ATART is open to everyone and every kind of level and types of art.
If you want to try something new but are worried you can't make enough for a swap - try it here!
If you have questions about a particular technique - ask here! There is sure to be someone who has tried it before, if not, I LOVE learning something new.
Start time (in MY time zone) 12.01am (JUST after midnight) on Sunday 27 December, 2020 and end time 11.59pm (midnight) on Tuesday 5 January, 2021 in the latest time zone, or thereabouts. . .
What we can do: ATCs, APCs, ATCoins (2.5" circle), Chunky pages (4" x4"), Inchies (1" x1"), Twinchies (2" x2"), Moos (1" x2.75"), tags, shaped cards (houses, arches, etc), postcards (4" x6"), bookmarks (2" x6") or whatever type of art your Muse calls you to create.
All mediums are welcome: collaging, sewing, painting, drawing, digital, napkins (with or without beeswax), washi tape, photographs, beading. . .
All styles are welcome: zentangles, stamps (postage and rubber), stickers. . .
And of course we can trade.
OPTIONAL CHALLENGES FOR THIS ATHON:
Sunday: Christmas &/OR making cards from leftover wrapping paper &/OR ONLY using Christmas colours (red/green/gold/white)
Monday: APCs &/OR ALTERNATE Christmas colours - ie NO red or green allowed &/OR after Christmas (for Santa, elves, us)
Tuesday: try a different size - smaller (Inchies, Twinchies, Moos, ATCoins), bigger (Chunkies, postcards), longer (bookmarks) &/OR monochromatic &/OR b/w with 1 other colour
Wednesday: try a different media - if you normally collage try drawing; if you normally draw try napkins ad beeswax; try origami; try iris or teabag folding; try stitching or fabric; try zentangles; etc &/OR snow (snowflakes, people/animals/things in the snow, snowmen and women, etc)
Thursday: animals (rubber stamps/ postage stamps; HD - realistic, whimsical, cartoon, zetti, etc; punched/die cut, and any other) &/OR phobias or things that you do NOT look forward to in the coming year &/OR the real 12 days of Christmas (list at top of Marie's swap) or funny alternatives
Friday: New Year (resolutions, greetings, party, Father Time and baby New Year, etc) &/OR something old/something new (old favourites - techniques/colours/styles but used in a new way) &/OR celebrate the Past (Vintage anything, favourite decades - I love flappers and Art Deco (20's and 30's), etc)
Saturday: all the good things in life &/OR with text &/OR stencils &/or punches
Sunday: things with wings &/OR tea and coffee (use them to draw with/colour your cards, teapots and cups, tea parties - think Mad Hatter, etc) &/OR shaped cards (start with a standard ATC then cut your shape, keeping as close to ATC size as possible - houses, arches, etc)
Monday: stamps (postage and rubber) &/OR stickers &/OR washi tape
Tuesday: reuse your Christmas cards (make ATCs, Inchies, Moos, etc) &/OR finish those cards that you started but didn't finish during this ATART
This ATART is open to everyone and every kind of level and types of art.
What IS an ATART?
It's an All Types of ART marathon where you can create art, done over the same time in each time zone. This thread will be our craft room.
How it works:
Start creating art when it's time to start, then upload your lovely creations to your Athon Gallery and post to the thread. Trading and chatting are going on all the time as people are awake in different time zones.
How to ask for a trade:
When you see a piece of art you would like to trade, please SEND A PERSONAL MESSAGE (PM) to that person asking for a trade. Please DO NOT post requests for trades to the thread - it can get way too confusing and may be missed in all the chatter.
NOTE: when you DO make a trade, please be sure to send it to your trade partner within 2 weeks. If you're running late, communicate!
Want to compliment an artist:
And you will. . . remember you can click the You Rock button and leave your compliment/comment there.
HOW TO POST YOUR ART TO THE THREAD:
From your atcsforall.com gallery
It's easiest to have 2 windows open.
1) Go to your Gallery and right click on the picture you wish to post - this brings up a menu that includes 'Copy image"
2) Click on this
3) Go to your post in the thread and hit paste (Ctrl V)
4) This allows you to add 10 images to your post
OR
Thumbnails (only 5 of these can be attached to a single post)
1) at the bottom of a new post there is a 'Go advanced' button - click on this
2) you will be taken to a new window, which will still show anything you have already written. In the top line of commands there is a paper clip - put your cursor over this and it will come up with the label 'Attachments'
3) left click on the paper clip and a 2nd new window will appear.
4) click on ADD FILES at the top and then click BROWSE. This will allow you to browse your computer and choose the image you wish to upload.
5) A list of the images you have chosen appears at the bottom of your post.
NEW TO ATARTS?
If you have any questions at all, feel free to PM me or post your questions to the thread. We have a lot of experienced art-a-thoners who are more than willing to help those of you new to this craziness.
IMPORTANT: REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR USERNAME ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARDS. You can't get an iTrader if your trading partner doesn't know who you are.

I'm ready. Donna, could you tell us what is your timezone because everyone may not know it. I.e. what time is it when you post your message. Then it's easy to compare.
I will be working most of the week but I should have some time for crafting too.

It is currently 8.15pm so just under 4 hours before we can begin.

Checking in! I don't know if I'll be making anything - we have some packing and things to take care of before leaving for our cottage. I do plan to take some supplies with me, so let's see. This is a nice tradition to follow the Christmas athon in any case, so thank you somuch, Donna, for hosting it again.
Sorry my inbox was full! I've been absent from the site for quite a while and hope to be back more frequently now.
Welcome to take a look at my
Instagram account!

Donna, thank you for inviting me to play! I am already thinking of ideas! I am excited! Your challenges are great!

Hello everyone! What a nice way to wake up ... with the ATART about to begin. It is very cold in Atlanta, Georgia this morning. I need more coffee to warm up, but then I will make some art with you.

Hello to all too. Thank you Donna for the invitation, to all.....where I live in N E Ohio we have had a lot of snow. A lot. Nine inches at my house more north of here. I will be popping in and out. My muse is still sleeping, I will go and wake it up. Hope you are all happy and well and safe. By the way, the mail is really jammed up in Cleveland, all mail coming in and going out is much delayed, they closed a lot of the sorting stations in my area. Just thought I would mention it and in case you might be expecting something previous from me and have not received it yet , it is still in the mail somewhere. Thank you for the ATART, Donna

Bookmarking. Thanks so much for the invitation!

I'll start us off with inchies, which I will trade 1:1 for inchies, or 6 inchies:1 ATC or a similar combination. These started off as 2 absolutely horrible ATC abstracts that nobody would want. Besides the abstract background, I used gelly pen, markers, and sometimes washi.
First 6
TL: cardinal (#1)
TR: Trees in snow #1 (#2)
ML: Santa (#3)
MR: Candle (#4)
BL: Tree and Snowman (#5)
BR: Bell (#6)
Second 6
TL: Trees in Snow #2 (#7)
TR: Three candles (#8)
ML: Stocking (#9)
MR: Trees in Snow #3 (#10)
BL: Trees in Snow #4 (#11)
BR: Wreath (#12)

My first one - using washi tape in Christmas colours with white for the foreground.
So glad to see so many people already here and thinking about creating.
It is really late here now and the last 2 days started WAY to early as we had the 6 year old and the 18 month old grandchildren sleep over for Christmas so I am off to bed. I can't wait to see what you all create while I sleep - Good night!

You know how much I like making cards with postage stamps. I was going to save these for the day with the optional challenge with stamps, but I couldn't wait. I just wish I had more scenery stamps.

Yes, sniisk... especially when I use all these wonderful stamps that arrived on envelopes from our trades. You always grab my cards with stamps from Finland. Your country issues such beautiful stamps.
