I put that as an option because I've made a few of them myself, and received some as well. There is a thinner plastic w/ tiny holes/squares. I use it w/ embroidery floss. I just cut the size one square less than 2.5x3.5 all the way around and by the time you've stitched your edges it's right sized and fits into a sleeve. I lost my favorite fat, dull needle that I always used to make them w/. I have another big needle but it's pointy and I always poke my finger so it slows me down.
I USED to have a bunch of that smaller thinner needlepoint plastic, but haven't seen it in years. I can hardly wait to see what you come up with!

My final post for the day...

Most of my needlework supplies are ancient and I have a very limited range of colors. Crewel yarns are not so easy to come by these days, and with Covid I don't go out shopping any more. But this swap reminded me how much I enjoy needlework. I'll probably see if I can get some supplies on Etsy....

Most of these are marvelous wool yarns on thick old-fashioned wool felt. I also used some little pieces of needlework canvas, cut and appliqued (sp?) to make them a little more original and quirky!

    and....

One that doesn't match the rest of the set...

Great tip. I tried them in the penny sleeve, and it turns out the cardboard ones don't fit, so the little quilts are coming.

Great! Welcome Donna! Have fun on your weekend retreat. It's been years since I've been to one. They're always so productive and it's fun to spend the time w/ friends.

Is sewing paper ok or do I need to do fabric? I made a very artsy collage with sewn pieces in it?

Monroy, stitching on paper is okay. Donna made some great embroidery on paper cards for my last swap. But I don't think a collage card w/ some stitched pieces on it would really qualify. Maybe share a pic?
