Fabulous, Funky and Fun Fobs ( and Lanyards )-- Due Nov 2

    Due date: November 2
Sign up/Withdraw: no deadline, just communicate
    Swapping: 3:3
    Number of players: 12

Who doesn't handle KEYS several times a day? Car keys, house keys, mailbox keys, file cabinet keys, holding-onto-a-key-for-the-neighbors keys, key cards for the workplace, etc....?

Wouldn't it add an element of fun if our fobs/lanyards were Fabulous, Funky and Fun?!?!?!?

    Lets make it happen!

I think I might do Monkey Fist Sailor Knots, sample here: Attachment 225320
Or maybe some beaded sparkly something.... or tassles..... hmmmm...
I'd love to have a candy wrapper fob, but i don't know how to make one. Sample here: Attachment 225322

Or Crochet maybe? Attachment 225323 Its fun to plan!

    Rules:

    1. Media: Open / mixed media, flat or 3-Dimensional. Mixed media includes beads, charms, bells, clay, tins, sealed puzzle pieces, ribbons, found objects etc... Be as creative as you like... it just adds to the fabulousness! Please no "paper only" fobs, we want these to be USABLE and functional. Include a key ring of your choice for each fob.

    2. Size: Keep the size so that the main fob fits in the palm of your hand (not including dangles or the ring.) Please nothing too tiny.

    3. Care: Wrap each piece individually and pack your pieces safely in a bubble envelope, which I will re-use. Include a large return address label.

    4. Postage: Please include the same amount of postage it cost you to send your fobs to me. For US participants, this could be $5 or more, depending on the size/weight of your finished key fob. International participants may be higher. You may PayPal me the postage amount if you don't want to go to the post office twice. I will not send returns if no postage is provided, but I will cover differences. Example: your fobs cost $3 to send to me, but your returns cost $5 to mail back. I'll cover that $2. Please message for my email if you chose the PayPal option.

    5. Share: Please add pics of your work if you can. We want ideas and eye candy!

    6. Rep and iTrader: A lot of work goes into the creative process, so please take the time to leave You Rock Points (for the people whose fobs you receive), and an iTrader for me. PM for my address when you are ready to mail.

A hostess fob would be treasured and greatly appreciated but is not at all expected!

Great nanner! Welcome to lurker cafe! I’ve been playing with ideas today today too. I’d love to find a way to incorporate zippers… or something metallic. What are you pondering on?

Marie, congrats on hosting your first Mail Art Swap. I have hosted about 4 now, and they are great fun (with amazing talent shown). Please sign me up, and I have a quick question: Would altered bottle caps be too small? If so, I do have some other ideas.

Welcome CiCiCreates! So glad you’re here! And thank you for the encouraging words. I AM excited to be venturing into mail art.

Bottle caps would be an awesome element! Probably not *quite* enough alone, but with a bit of this and that added they’d be awesome! Kinda steampunk and cool. I’ll sign you up right now.

Truthfully, I'm drawing a blank at the moment. But I'm curious to see what the artists in the swap come up with.

Finished 3 today, though I’m still brimming with ideas. I might make more for fun!

Attachment 225462. I made two like this, from spoons, beads and wire. What I love about this one is that it can stand up on its own. Perfect for the neighbors keys or the extra key you keep for the kid who walks the dog or waters your plants when you are away. Or the mailbox keys even. I can think of a lot of uses for a key fob that can stand on a shelf and not require a hook.

Attachment 225463 I think this one as more for car keys or house keys. What do you all think?

I’m off to a good start with a little rubber ducky, but I’m stuck as to how to finish it out. I may post post a pic later for brainstorming purposes.

Sounds cute. The spoon and beads are decorative and pretty! The cardinal looks kind of like something I had in mind. Is it “lightly stuffed” felt?
