Swap Due Date – January 7, 2022

Trash to Treasure 21 - ATCs and//or Dolls - Due January 7, 2022

Mixed Media Collage

Number of items - 3 for 3

WE ARE FULL

ABOUT THE SWAP AND THE ENVELOPE OF TRASH

This swap is a mixed media collage challenge to create ATCs and-or Dolls from trash items. Most of these items are items that would normally be thrown away. You will recycle these items into awesome art. You must be willing to think outside the box and use items in different and new ways. Each envelope will have a variety of items. Some items will be the same type but slightly different.

ATCs must be 2.5” by 3.5” on a sturdy base. Dolls must be on a sturdy base and fit into an ATC sleeve. I will be sending one doll base in every envelope. The base is a guideline for doll shape. You do not have to use the doll base I send. You can make the dolls any shape as long as they fit into an ATC sleeve.

What you make is up to you either ATCs or Dolls or mix of both.
Each card must fit inside an ATC sleeve.

PLEASE NOTE

This is a no withdrawal swap, so I will leave neutral iTrader to those who don’t complete the commitment to this swap. No cards, no contact, late cards will result in neutral iTrader.

***If you have withdrawn from any of the previous trash or similar swaps, you are not eligible to join this swap.

RULES

Use at least two trash items on every ATC or Doll.

The items you use can be altered - cut, ripped, torn, painted, sanded, sprayed with ink, etc.

Items can be used as a tool – cut a shape and make a print, use the item as a stencil or mask, use an item to apply paint or ink. Using and item as a tool counts as one item used on a card.

Dig out your paints, inks, glue, paintbrushes, sprays, stencils, brayers, pens and pencils.

Use the ingredients to layer interesting colors, shapes and textures.

Do not make abstract cards.

Do not glue items down willy-nilly without design.

Have a focal point that draws your eye and is complemented by the surrounding colors and textures.

A sturdy base is required. Don’t use just use a piece of scrapbook paper. Back your creation with something sturdy.

You are encouraged to add items of your own to complete the card.

Do not JUST use the trash items – that is not the object of this swap. You need to add some of your own ingredients to make your trash creation artistic and unique.

On the back of your card include your AFA username, real name and the trash items you have used.

TO SIGN UP

Post to the thread to sign up. State that you have read all the requirements and that you are aware that this is a no withdrawal swap and that any withdrawal will receive a neutral iTrader.

Send me a private message with your mailing address.

When I receive your message, I will mail you your trash envelope.

Once you have signed up for the swap, there is no withdrawal.

This swap is limited to 12 players.

POSTING TO THE THREAD

Please post to the thread when you have received your trash items.

When you have completed your cards, please post them in the thread listing which mystery items you have used.

MAILING YOUR CARDS

Send each card in its own ATC sleeve or in the 3 side by side baseball card sleeve.

Please include a mailing label with your address clearly written or typed. I will provide envelopes for returns. Include return postage equal to the amount of postage it cost you to send your cards to me. Additional stamps to reimburse me for the cost of mailing you the trash envelope is appreciated but not a requirement.

I live in Florida. It is up to you to be aware of the mailing time from your location to me and to mail your cards in time for me to receive them by the due date. Late cards will be returned to sender and a neutral iTrader given.

AFTER YOUR RETURN CARDS ARE RECEIVED

When you receive your returns, please post in the swap thread that you have received them. Don’t forget to leave an iTrader for me and You Rock!s to the other artists.

(Thanks to CastleQueen5 for starting this series; and all the other hostesses who have jumped into the trash swap dumpster.)

Take out the papers and the trash
Or you don't get no spendin' cash
If you don't scrub that kitchen floor
You ain't gonna rock and roll no more

Yes, I do. I will send you my new mailing address. Thanks.

I would like to join and have read all the instructions and accept that it is no withdrawal swap. The doll shape sounds like fun rather than a regular atc.

Welcome CastleQueen5 and Mushu.
I will be working on envelopes this weekend and get them in the mail probably Tuesday.
Thanks for playing.

I would love to join. I understand that this is a no-withdrawal swap, and I have read all of the instructions.

Welcome nanvan and Allegrae.

Don't be too excited for the doll template. I traced a doll i printed off of the Internet and cut them out of heavy card stock by hand. So, they are very basic. Nothing high tech. Making dolls is optional, not a requirement.

I want to play! I know it's a no withdrawal swap. Are you going to swap doll for doll and card for card? I may try a doll but will most likely just do cards.

That is a good question. I most likely will do the dolls, I find them harder to do, and I like the challenge. Harder because you have to make things fit into a doll image. Oh I hope that makes sense.

One thing about swaps is the importance of posting pictures of what you make in the swap thread.

I keep track of who likes what and try to give players things they like.

The other advantage of posting pictures in the thread is to get ideas. We all think and create differently, so learning a new idea or technique only expands our skills.

Welcome kehlenn.

You are the ninth player.

Three spots left.

I am starting to stuff the envelopes today.
