Thanks for the invite. I'll at least check in on what is happening. My computer crashed yestesrday, so I'm working from a tablet until it's fixed. Tech is reinstalling windows and hopefully it will be ready this afternoon. Then I get to reinstall all.the.stuff I use daily, which makes my head hurt! At least they were able to save all my files. I hadn't backed up my photos for a few months.
Sorry to hear about your back, Lorna - I hope it heals quickly.
We've started! I managed to cut some cards this morning, but I probably won't be able to finish anything until Friday. Looking forward to seeing everyone's art
Well, I started a few cards. Jumping off the “brown paper packages” prompt. Hopefully will get them finished soon.
I also did some color mixing practice. I was intrigued by the “bright copper kettle” prompt and wondered how I would mix that color with the watercolors I have? So I just played around a little.
This is a fun theme! My first music box had this song. It was pink with a hello kitty ballerina, I was probably 5 or 6, hadn’t ever seen the movie but kinda knew the song.
I’ve got some fun ideas rolling! Hopefully I’ll have some time to get crafty tomorrow.I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with!
It's time already? Time flies doesn't it? I hope to be able to create something tomorrow. My laptop is back from the tech, and I'm trying to get things back to normal. Extra work! I'll at least check in to see what everyone is doing.
Quiet as mice, insomniacs work on their ATCs in the middle of the night. I made Raindrops on Roses and Brown Paper Packages for trading if anybody would like to. IMG_2590.jpgIMG_2589.jpg
Hi Everybody....I love the seasonal, in this case, winter, one of my favorite things is watching for wildlife and birds and enjoying beautiful scenery especially after a fresh snowfall. I don’t know if one sees too many red skies but that atc is Christmas and Holiday colors and I just felt like red. Somnia...way way up north in Canada, or I have seen wilderness way up north in northern Maine. Been to Ashland and Cariboo and Presque Isle. And, of course, Canada. The land was marked in sections. Wow. Happy ATART to all.
I've got 4 done so far. Sound of Music is one of my favorite movies of all time, although, now that I think of it, why is "Favorite Things" considered a Christmas song? Is it the brown paper packages tied up with strings? The snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes? Door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles? Ah well... here are 2 that go with the song, and 2 that have nothing to do with it... Sorry the colors are off, but I photograph my cards, resize them, then post, instead of scanning them. Our scanner is a pain so I rarely use it.

Attachment 227271 Stonehenge at Solstice (didn't make the cut for the Yule swap)
Attachment 227272 Whiskers on Kittens (based on my dearly departed Dixie) - TRADED
Beautiful cards everyone! I can't wait to get some done and start trading
I think I associate the movie The Sound of Music with this time of year because it used to play on tv around Christmas when I was a kid - back when we didn't have access to any movie we wanted at any time. So I always think of watching it in December, even though it's definitely not set in winter - they're outside frolicking in their curtain clothes in spring/summer.
I love winter and snow. I even go winter camping. I get annoyed when it rains in December. I live in Canada - how far north do I have to move to have snow in winter??
Looking forward to seeing more favorite things, holiday cards, and other ATART creations : )
Love seeing everyone’s creations! Haven’t been in an ATART for a while, but planned on this one. Got up crazy late today and have to jump in the shower and dress before I can hurry upstairs to my craft room....and computer! See you later!
I remember those days! Along with The Sound of Music, there would be the other traditional standards--The Grinch, Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, A Christmas Carol, It's A Wonderful Life--to look forward to. The Wizard of Oz was occasionally on once a year. My sister made us watch Jesus of Nazareth every Easter, even though we weren't really religious.
I'm hurrying through essential tasks so I can get into the studio. Last night, I rounded up some great collage fodder, too, so I'm all set.
Here are three that have absolutely nothing to do with the theme. They are my own experiment in technique. Where I live there are craft classes, but I was without my usual water fast pens and watercolor pencils. I painted these by applying water to my drawings made with a water-soluble writing pen, and then deliberately wetting the ink so that it bled. Once the cards were dry, I applied a light layer of watercolor to them. The steer card is roughly based on a photo I found in the craft room; the other two I just drew without using anything for inspiration.
This Jacaranda tree (among my favorite trees) is done in watercolors. The "Fluffy Puppies" is done in acrylics, a little dimensional on the fluffy fur.
The Jacaranda Card is now TRADED to Ancient Planter.
