Post-Christmas/New Year ATART Dec 28-Jan 6
This ATART is open to everyone and every kind of level and types of art.
If you want to try something new but are worried you can't make enough for a swap - try it here!
If you have questions about a particular technique - ask here! There is sure to be someone who has tried it before, if not, I LOVE learning something new.
Start time (in MY time zone) 12.01am (JUST after midnight) on Tuesday 28 December, 2021 and end time 11.59pm (midnight) on Thursday 6 January, 2022 in the latest time zone, or thereabouts. . .
What we can do: ATCs, APCs, ATCoins (2.5" circle), Chunky pages (4" x4"), Inchies (1" x1"), Twinchies (2" x2"), Moos (1" x2.75"), tags, shaped cards (houses, arches, etc), postcards (4" x 6") or whatever type of art your Muse calls you to create
All mediums are welcome: collaging, sewing, painting, drawing, digital, napkins (with or without beeswax), washi tape, photographs, beading. . .
All styles are welcome: zentangles, stamps (postage and rubber), stickers. . .
And of course we can trade.
OPTIONAL CHALLENGES FOR THIS ATHON:
Tuesday: Christmas &/OR making cards from leftover wrapping paper &/OR ONLY using Christmas colours (red/green/gold/white)
Wednesday: APCs &/OR ALTERNATE Christmas colours - ie NO red or green allowed &/OR after Christmas (Santa, elves, us)
Thursday: try a different size - smaller (Inchies, Twinchies, Moos), bigger (Chunky, postcards), etc &/OR monochromatic &/OR b/w with 1 other colour
Friday: try a different media - if you normally collage try drawing; if you normally draw try napkins and beeswax; try origami; try iris or teabag folding; try stitching or fabric; try zentangles (tangle patterns reference); etc &/OR snow (snowflakes, people/animals/things in the snow, snowmen and women, etc)
Saturday: New Year (resolutions, greetings, party, Father Time and baby New Year, etc) &/OR something old/something new (old favourites - techniques/colours/styles but used in a new way) &/OR celebrate the Past (Vintage anything, favourite decades - I love flappers and Art Deco (20's and 30's), etc
Sunday: all the good things in life &/OR with text &/OR stencils and/or punches
Monday: stamps (postage and rubber) &/OR stickers &/OR washi tape
Tuesday: things with wings &/OR tea and coffee (use them to draw with/colour your cards; teapots and cups; tea parties - think Mad Hatter, etc) &/OR shaped cards (start with a standard ATC then cut your shape, keeping as close to ATC size as possible - houses, arches, etc)
Wednesday: animals (rubber stamps/postage stamps; HD - realistic, whimsical, cartoon, zetti, etc; punched/die cut; etc) &/OR the 12 days of Christmas (list of the gifts given) &/OR a Christmas movie - eg It's a wonderful life; Miracle on 34th Street; the Grinch; Love actually; etc
Thursday: reuse your Christmas cards (make ATCs, Inchies, Moos, etc) &/OR finish those cards that you started but didn't finish during this ATART
What IS an ATART?
It's and All Types of ART marathon where you can create art, done over the same time in each time zone. This thread will be our craft room.
How it works:
Start creating art when it's time to start, then upload your lovely creations to your Athon Gallery and post to the thread. Trading and chatting are going on all the time as people are awake in different time zones.
How to ask for a trade:
When you see a piece of art you would like to trade for, please SEND A PERSONAL MESSAGE (PM) to that person asking for a trade. Please DO NOT post requests for trades to the thread - it can get way too confusing and may be missed in all the chatter.
NOTE: If you do make a trade, please be sure to send it to your trade partner within 2 weeks. If you're running late, communicate!
Want to compliment an artist:
And you will. . . remember you can click the You Rock button and leave your compliment/comment there.
HOW TO POST YOUR ART TO THE THREAD:
From your atcsforall.com gallery
It's easiest to have 2 windows/tabs open.
1) Go to your Gallery and right click on the picture you wish to post - this brings up a menu that includes "Copy image"
2) Click on this
3) Go to your post in the thread and hit Paste (Ctrl V)
4) This allows you to add 10 images to your post
OR
Thumbnails (only 5 of these can be attached to a single post)
1) at the bottom of any new post there is a 'Go advanced' button - click on this
2) you will be taken to a new window, which will still show anything you have already written. In the top line of commands there is a paper clip - put your cursor over this ad it will come up with the label 'Attachments'
3) left click on the paper clip and a 2nd new window will appear.
4) click on ADD FILES at the top and then click BROWSE. This allows you to browse your computer and choose the image you with to upload.
5) a list of the images you have chosen appears at the bottom of your post.
NEW TO ATARTS?
If you have any questions at all, feel free to PM me or post your questions to the thread. We have a lot of experienced art-a-thoners who are more than willing to help those of you new to this wonderful craziness
IMPORTANT: REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR USERNAME ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARDS. You can't get an iTrader if your trading partner doesn't know who you are.

We are ready to start. We already occupied our only table with craft supplies that means we may have our Christmas dinner on the floor. Hilla already said that a Christmas picnic sounds pretty good.

Evelyn, have you checked what is your "reputation phrase". You see it when you move your cursor over the green dots next to your picture. It made me laugh and I can't stop!

Bahaha
Thank you for pointing this out! Guess I´ll have to make my mind up

Bookmarking: I will have LOTS of time for this. I recently moved to a retirement community and because of Covid they just suspended all of our entertainment and most of our activities that involved interaction with others. We can’t even eat in the dining room but must carry our meals home to eat. So I’ll make the most of an inconvenient situation and I’ll art away my days.

I didn't even know this was a thing - the phrases! You are right Evelyn's is so funny!

More time to marathon is definitely the silver lining!

I'm going to try, but my daughter is a freelance graphic designer. She has just been contracted to design the layout for an entire magazine style book, between Christmas and new years, so I will be doing lots of grandma duty. We'll see how it goes!

Any of those grandkids into art?
(Preferably something that does not require a clean-up for you later...)

Jo, what a bummer that activities were suspended. But that does give you lots of time, so there's that.
I'm so discouraged that we're going back into curtailing of activities that we were just considering again. Our friends from North Vancouver BC were finally able to come across the border for short trips without having a negative Covid test to get back into Canada. (The test costs $130 or so so not feasible for a quick lunch trip). It lasted for three weeks - and now they have that requirement back in place and they are in lockdown. They managed to get down here once to pickup mail at their US PO Boxes but we didn't manage to get together. boohoo! We're all vaccinated and boostered and hoped to have lunch at a mutual friends home to celebrate the holidays. We do visit weekly on Zoom, but it's nowhere close to the same. And I'm rambling... lol
