The Great Garland Swap - Due March 21
Due date: Monday, March 21st
Sign up/withdraw: no deadline, just communicate
Number of art pieces: 3/3 or 5/5
Number of players: 23
Ready to create vertical “hang-able” art?! Join us as we make individual pieces that can ultimately be strung together on an art garland!
Simple Rules to Swap Success:
1. Open and mixed media vertical art strands: Art can be made from all sorts of greatness: paper, card stock, hand-drawn, collage, flat or 3-D creations, beads, bottle caps, spoons, wire, ceramics, found objects, and much more. Art should be vertical (up and down,) between 7-12 “ inches long and under 2” wide. Include a hanger for each piece (ribbon, hook, wire, etc.)
2. 3 for 3…5 for 5: How many you create is up to you. HOWEVER, if you make 5 pieces, pretty please put the same amount of effort into each and every one. This is about quality, not just quantity. Sign your work with your username on each piece. And take your time with this to create something you're proud to send in (no rush jobs!)
3. Wrap each art strand individually and pack your pieces safely in a bubble envelope, which I will re-use. Include a large return address label.
4. Postage: Please include the same amount of postage in $US dollars that it takes to mail the art to me. For US participants, this could be $5 or more, depending on the size/weight of your finished art. International participants: PayPal with postage value equivalent to what it cost to send the art to me. Please message for my email. If postage makes it cost-prohibitive for you to join, send a private message to me, and we'll work something out.
5. Show and tell: Please upload piccys of your art. That’s one of the best parts! Hostess gifts or extra postage are always appreciated. You will receive individually wrapped strands as your returns and it will be up to you to string them together on a garland (which we’d love to see when you’re done.)
6. Rep and iTrader: A lot of work goes into this art, so please take the time to leave Rep Points (You Rock button) for the people you receive art from, and an iTrader for me. PM for my address (in Costa Mesa.)
Some lovely examples from Pinterest (please don't use real food or overly delicate items):

Ok. This sounds awesome. Plus, I'm loving the company. Thank you wildholly for pointing this one at me!
I'll lurk for a day or two, maybe a week, and hope it does not fill by then. I need to finish some commitments first.
One question, is the idea to make the equivalent of 3 or 5 of those vertical strings in the examples (which could be made of several items each)? or of 3 to 5 individual artsy items that could be put on one string? I'm assuming is the former but want to make sure.

What rhymes with: banner, car sand, crop? How about a Nanner Garland SWAP. Yeah that’s the ticket. Sign me up Buttercup
"Imagination is more important than knowledge" Albert Einstein
"Making ATCs is more important than making dinner" Laffqueen
If I comment on your work it means I'd love to trade.

i would love to play! I have several ideas, now to see if I can settle on one or two.
Aloha
I'm always up for one-on-one trades. Just private message me!
Aloha, Chimerix

Hi, Aifrati. It's your choice to make either 3/3 or 5/5 quantity individual strands. How you make those strands is up to you (your choice of materials, attachments, layout etc.) You'll receive individual strands as your returns, and it will be up to you how you hang them into a garland. Let me know if that clears it up.
