Recycle it: Tags due April 8th
Due Date: Friday April 8th
3/3
Open media (including abstract, zentangle)
Unlimited players
When I purchase anything and if it has a tag on it, I save that tag. It might have the price. It might not. It will name the item & maybe something else.
This swap is about using those tags as your base and arting on top of one side. Or you can cut out a tag from a cereal box, or a dog treat box or a box of tissue etc. In other words, you are turning something already used into something else. You cannot use blank tags that came in a package of tags.
Art up one side ( or on another paper which you attach to your tag.) and leave part of what you recycled visible on the back and add some artist info.
You can put any kind of string in the hole. Or not. Your tag must have a hole. Tag size is up to you. I will swap similar size for similar size.
Mailing info: US players: Send in a label or piece of paper with your name & address. Do not use those free tiny address labels. Send along a forever stamp. I will provide envelopes.
International players: Send your address on a piece of paper. I will provide postage and envelopes.
When your tags are ready, send me a PM for my address. I live in Oregon now.

Reason: adding player name, transforming it to sign up swap

Thanks for the PM, I forget to look in Open Mail art swaps. Sign me up and dont tell anyone that I often save those silly tags. I will see if I can put my hands on a few today.
-
Great!
This is the hard part of no-sign up swaps, you don't know who is interested until the art comes or maybe when players PM you for your address.
-
This is the first swap I've hosted since we moved to Oregon.
-
Thanks for the invite! I will check my stash!

Thanks for the invite.
I'll see what I can come up with.
I will try to refrain from Disney!
-
Cathie, the next time you come over, you can pick some tags from my collection.

I have found these 2 recent tags. One is from a pair of matching pajamas I had bought for myself and my friend who came for Christmas. One the other was for a cute pair of boots, I bought from the greater good store.

I made my first tag. It is wide, 4 inches but I am hoping it will fit in a business envelope. Since I am doing stencils for a swap, I went for a stencil on this first tag.

I bought a Star Wars shirt once and was FASCINATED by the tag on it... All-black cardboard with a silver embossed Darth Vader. Alone, as-is, it was art and I saved it, but will have to check if I have any random tags in need of a make-over laying around. Hopefully I do, as this swap is very intriguing.

You are also welcome to create a tag by recycling/reusing a cereal, tea, macaroni etc box cardboard.

Hmmmm ok, but help me to understand how to make that work...Per your guidelines, you want the back of the tag to show what it was made from, so i assume that means the front of the box will be the back of the tag?
-
Exactly! It can be interesting to see where your tag originated from. Just fit your artist info somewhere also on the back.

So in the Star wars vein. I saved a Mac and cheese box because it had yoda on it. I dont think I ever used it, but I doubt I could get my hands on it. MY CRAFT room is still not finished. 1/2 painted and my daughter has seemed to have lost interest. I am using a card table, and I have the stuff on my 2 rolling carts, in the living room. Meaning I have plenty of supplies just not access to ALL of my supplies.
-
I always lose interest in painting walls or much of anything else. My husband is good at painting and does not seem to mind doing it. I am good at suggesting colors.

A lot of things in boxes are in bags inside the boxes. So you could take a box from your kitchen and make tags from it.
