No Fooling--Just Art Athon April 1-4

Welcome to the official thread! I'll be sending out reminders and feel free to let other people know. Everyone is welcome, all levels, all medium, or even if you don't have time to make art, come chat!

What is an art-athon? A virtual gathering where we make and trade art and also spend time together. You can play each day or just some of the days, whatever works for you. And if you don't have time to make art, but you just want to pop in for some eye candy, that's always cool.

Okay, so this starts April 1st but in the earliest time zone, so for most of us--no fooling!--it will be March 31st. I will try to get a post up when it officially starts, but if I'm slow or asleep and you know it's the 1st somewhere in the world, go ahead and start. It ends the 4th.

Totally optional challenges:

April 1st--foolishness/silliness/humor/cartoons/whimsy

April 2nd--flower frenzy--use flowers in your art

April 3rd--black and white with a burst of color (because most of us are getting our first days of spring and spring to me means color

April 4th--peace --you could go with peace signs and daisies and hippies, you could go with doves, you could go with peacemakers (April 4th is the anniversary of MLK's death so that's why I went with this.) You could go with tranquil, peaceful scenes or things that bring you peace.

But of course make whatever art you really want to.

Here are some how-tos (which I lifted from Donna's last thread, thank you, Donna!) but if you have questions, feel free to post them in the thread and anyone with the answer can explain it or you can private message me.

Just as any level or medium is welcome, any size is, too. Make atcs, coins, apcs, chunkies, MOOs, inchies, twinchies, whatever makes you happy.


What is an ATART?
It's an All Types of ART marathon where you can create art, done over the same time in each time zone. This thread ill be our craft room.

How it works:
Start creating art when it's time to start, then upload your lovely creations to you Athon Gallery and post to the thread. Trading and chatting are going on all the time as people are awake in different time zones.

How to ask for a trade:
When you see a piece of art you would like to trade for, please SEND A PERSONAL MESSAGE (PM) to that person asking for a trade. Please DO NOT post requests for trades to the thread - it can get way too confusing and may be missed in all the chatter.

NOTE: when you do make a trade, please be sure to send it to your trade partner within 2 weeks. If you're running late, communicate!

Want to compliment an artist:
And you will. . . remember you can click the You Rock button and leave your compliment/comment there.

HOW TO POST YOUR ART TO THE THREAD:
From your atcsforall.com gallery
It's easiest to have 2 windows open.
1) Go to your Gallery and right click on the picture you wish to post - this brings up a menu that includes 'Copy image'
2) Click on this
3) Go to your post in the thread and hit Paste (Ctrl V)
4) This allows you to add 10 images to your post.
OR
Thumbnails (only 5 of these can be attached to a single post)
1) at the bottom of a new post in a thread there is a 'Go advanced' button - click on this
2) you will be taken to a new window, which will still show anything you have already written. In the top line of commands there is a paper clip - put your cursor over this and it will come up with the label 'Attachments'
3) left click on the paper clip and a 2nd new window will appear.
4) click on ADD FILES at the top and then click BROWSE. This will allow you to browse your computer and choose the image you wish to upload.
5) click the DONE button in the bottom R of this screen - the images you have chosen will appear at the bottom of your post.
6) if you want to attach them in your post, click on the INSERT INLINE button instead

NEW TO ATARTS?
If you have any questions at all, feel free to PM me or post your questions to the thread. We have a lot of experienced art-a-thoners who are more than willing to help those of you new to this craziness.


And, on a side note, I have a cold today as I post this and have taken cold medicine, so if I've left anything out that I should have mentioned, let me know and I will edit it. I have about six brain cells not impaired by the cold medicine.....
