I'm an Envie Addict! Hopefully, there are more of you out there! What? You're a newb? What's an Envie you say? If you don't already know, Envies are altered envelopes. They can be drawn on, painted on, upcycled, collage and mix media up! Sky's the limit. Getting personal mail is nice, but getting a mini traveling museum is the best! We also allow postcards!
So here's what I propose, let's get a good sized group going for a monthly swap. It would be a nice way to get our fix of envies on a regular basis. Let's share our ideas, links to inspiration, and get to know each other as artist.

How the NEW sign up works:

First, I will post a new thread like normal. For the first week I will be accepting players. Players have the 1st thru 7th of the month to come to the thread and say, "I wanna play." Once you join, there is no withdrawing.

Next, I will make up a partner's list and post it on the 8th or the 9th of the month. Once I have the player's list up, I will send everyone my usual monthly update via PM.

My suggested mail out date would be the 15th, but for the most part your Envie needs to be in the hands of your partner by the last day of the month. If anything is late, there is a little forgiveness if you are communicating with your partner.

In the past, we've had a lot of peeps that flaked on their trade. Itrader points will now play a big part in who plays in E.A.U. If you had a wonderful experience, fabulous! Leave positive points. If you had a hiccup, but your not too bent outta shape about it, leave a neutral point. If you had a total "flaker" and your experience was horrible...well then you might want to think about a negative point. (Consider yourself warned.)

How will the points help us? I figure it this way. If you had a neutral point as a result of playing in EAU, you will be given a second chance, but a second one in a row will be considered a negative point. If you've had a negative point within 3 months no matter where you were playing, you cannot participate.


On a lighter note, we celebrate birthdays! When you sign up and it happens to be your birthday month say, "I wanna play and I'm celebrating a birthday!" Other player's just might send ya some happy mail. ...just be sure to leave a YouRock point to those that RAK you.

Naked! Is how we send our Envies...as is. However, there has been times that mail has gone missing. If you feel that your Envie might find the same fate, you can send it, within a plain envelope. But! ... your art has to be dressed up with faux postage and addresses.

Stuff, your Envie's with something sturdy like cereal boxes or junk mail. Send it out, but don't post a pic at AFA until you hear that your partner has received it. Save the surprise for them. Once, you get word that they have it, share it all over the place. We're nosey! We wanna see too!

Size Rules: Your Envie has to be a minimum of 3 5/8 X 6 1/2 inches. (Small Business Envelope) ...and up...

Playing catch up from a ten-day cold last month (tested negative for Covid) and getting ready to have hand surgery at the end of the month for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Anyone had this op before?

Jazzie, my brother has Carpal tunnel syndrome. Not bad enough to have surgery, but he does have to wear the brace. He's a medical transcriber. Types all day.

Oh Jazzie, so sorry about the Carpal Tunnel. Dang, I had to have surgery on both hands years ago. I still have problems with my left hand more than my right from time to time. Take good care.

Mailing Fandanie's EAU today. Hope it doesn't get lost in the tax forms. I had meant to mail it this past week but then I was once again drawn away to attend to issues that couldn't wait. Hubby's prized Fiero is on its way to his youngest son's home in UT. He had originally planned to fly out here, install a new battery and then drive it back to UT. I told him that wasn't a good idea - car's nearly 40 years old and his dad had been having some issues and it's been sitting idle for 7 months. It took his wife telling him not to try it and then he hired a transport company. I took tons of photos of the car and then sent a letter along with the title and the manuals telling him some of my memories.

If you don't know, a Fiero is a really, really, really, really, really (get the idea?) low car, practically on the ground low. We used to drive (well, Bill used to drive) the car all around the gold country areas of California and other places. Once, we ended up on a dirt road and no way to turn around so we just kept following the road down, down, and down, eventually winding up at a dried up lake or river bed area where 4 wheelers were playing around and they all stopped to look at us. It was pretty funny. We chatted with them for a few minutes and then headed back up the dirt road. That was our 4 wheeling adventure in the Fiero.

Bill always fixed things and needed a way to haul some lumber and plywood so he built a wooden rack for the Fiero. The rack didn't go with the car to Utah. He'd put that rack on top of the car, drive to the lumber yard, get the lumber, then haul it down to the house to work on siding or drywall or fence or whatever project it was.

His son's memory is of a drive up the California coast and into Oregon when he was 14 and the car was really new. His son, now almost 18, is excited about the car also after hearing about the trip.

I'm really glad that the car will go to Bill's son. It's still a solid car - 2nd engine - total of 273,000 plus miles. It's a bit persnickety at times, but it's a pretty solid car.

Happy weekend everyone. It's raining here and the roof is still not fixed and the siding is still not fixed.

Trina, glad that the car will live on for so much more adventures! My eldest son is a car enthusiast. I get what having a lowered car is like. He recently sold his FRS which was SO SO SO low, that I had to just try to roll my self out of the car and kinda fall out to get out of it! LOL! He now has a Subaru WRX and I am profusely happy that he thinks it looks good with out having to lower it. So, now I can look somewhat normal disembarking it!

As for your roof and siding situation, I feel bad that I don't have any connections to people that could help you. ...What kind of roof do you have? Do you know how old the roof is? Was your husband in the military? If he was, I was wondering if they have some type of widow benefit or group that could help you? Anyhow, just thinking out loud here.
