    Saturday's Post

A bit of an assortment today:

First, I was looking in my semi-completed cards to see if anything inspired me and saw that the ornate patterns on "H becomes a doodle...." look somewhat Victorian. Then I wondered how it would look if I just replaced that H with a Victorian image from my stash.

But then I would need to rename the card...
So first I thought I would see if anyone wants it as it is:
Or if anyone had a particular Image they would like INSTEAD of that H?!:
    TRADED (to Heather, of course!)

Next, some flowers. It is not at all obvious, but I was doing an experiment with alcohol markers on three different kinds of paper. All three flowers were made with the same group of markers, but the results were quite different. I love to play and experiment and ramble on about the playing and experimenting:

    TRADED

Finally, I was looking for some alcohol ink tutorials and stumbled upon some pieces by Brooke Summers-Perry that inspired me to COPY the method of just making a scene by dragging the alcohol markers horizontally across the page. Of course, hers are bigger and much better.... but I plan to do more of these. I see a lot of beauty in simplicity:

2 cards done, more Alice and watercolor flowers in progress.

I also watched another video by the same woman (Margarete Miller) CQ5 linked to for the paint chips. MM made 4 atcs on one 5 x7 collage, but she never seems to cut the cards apart. I confess that I jumped around the video because I get impatient watching people glue, so she may have explained why she left them connected and I missed it.

I'm trying the method for some backgrounds. I don't think I can work on them together to completion. I really need to see individual cards cut apart before adding a focal point and balancing elements.

Here's the link. I really like some of the sets of 4 she shows at the beginning.

Sorry for the overload of cuteness that these cards are, but I got the critters in the mail from someone recently and just HAD to use them. Don't worry; if uber cuteness is not your thing, they can live happily in my collection with my other super cute things that I end up making for myself. But I thought I'd share (and am totally willing to send them to someone else who needs cuteness in their mailbox. . . )

    Crafty Critters: (TRADED)
    Attachment 232048

    Baking Buddies: (TRADED)
    Attachment 232049

These last two are 4x4's (for an extra cuteness overload!)

    In the Sewing Room:
    Attachment 232050

    In the Kitchen: (TRADED)
    Attachment 232051

I'll try to work on something a little less "cutesy" next, but these critters are just so darn fun to color. . . !

We have had nothing but continuous rain for days and our internet is now playing up due to the junction boxes flooding. My husband is amazed that I can get onto the site at all.
I am currently playing with Alice in Wonderland cards - they are reaching my Gallery as far as I am aware. . .

Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I will check that PMs I send actually sent and will try to answer those that I receive.

Donna, it's weird to think that you have rainy days. We are waiting for to get some rain because the nature here is way too dusty and dry.

Time for some bigger animals from Canada

Attachment 232052 ATART 27 California Myotis (Myotis californicus) - found in the west coast forests of Canada (I couldn't let an ATART go by without drawing at least one bat!)

Attachment 232053 ATART 28 TRADED Bandit (Racoon: Procyon lotor) - found in southern Canada except Rockies; riparian forest is the preferred habitat

Attachment 232054 ATART 29 TRADED Leave It To Beaver (North American Beaver: Castor canadensis) - found in humid areas of forests, in all of Canada below the tree line except drier parts of prairies

Attachment 232055 ATART 30 TRADED American Bison (Bison bison)

Attachment 232056 ATART 31 TRADED Bull Moose (Alces alces) - found in Canada's boreal forests and wetlands. The name comes from the Algonquin word meaning "eater of twigs".

I obviously have WAY too many Alice in Wonderland resources - I have loaded another collection of cards into my Gallery.
I am currently trying to work on some steampunk cards, hopefully they will reach my Gallery tomorrow, along with the flower ATCoins that I am planning.

It is now late and I am tired of fighting both my mouse (the left button, you know, the one that you use to navigate ANYwhere is malfunctioning and I can end up all sorts of places that I did not intend to go ) and the Internet which is even spotty when hot spotting off my phone.

See you all tomorrow when I will answer my PMs - sleep tight and happy creating.

Lovely art has happened since I last checked in. I don't have anything new, although there are several in the process cards looking at me. Hmmm...

Jo.on.the.go, of course you had to have a bat. Fabulous animal cards.

Seascape 131, it's cool that some of your cards seem to connect to make a larger scene!

Lovely stuff! I am new here but not (totally) new to ATCs. I made a couple cards this morning but taking a break now for fresh inspiration. I see lots of things I would like to trade for so maybe I'll try to get a card or two to see if there is any interest.

    ornamental Queen Guinevere

I could not get the files to appear here -- they are in the A-thon gallery.

Hi, The art Nouveau-style queen chipboard is removable for wearing or display. I added the crown and mounted on decorative paper.

I got absolutely nothing done yesterday as my son showed up to paint the bathroom. I guess that's art in a way. Today I'm going to experiment with a gelli plate. I tried it once when I first got it and the results were less than the trouble it took to take it out of the package. I watched a You tube tutorial so now I'll try again. When I get frustrated with that I'll attempt some encaustic. I love these weekends for experimenting.

About that video -- I liked the idea of making the four cards but if you cut them apart you will have to darken the cut edges to make them match. She didn't really give a reason for making them like that.

Here's a piece of Canadian history, the building of the Connaught tunnel which was the largest tunnel in the world at the time:

    3 more Alice cards:

I started with one 5x7 background for all 4 Alice cards, but cut them apart pretty early in the process so they don't look like a set the way that Margrete Miller's 5x7 sets do.
