My husband and I bought our first house a couple of years ago and I was able to set up my ideal craft room for the first time ever. I set it up to make scrapbooking quicker and easier on myself. Then COVID hit and I stopped doing scrapbook worthy stuff and took up art journalling, which gave me a whole new set of products to organize. I did a little rearranging so that the products I use more often were more available to me. Then I moved on to ATCs, which somehow brought in even more new stuff for me to use and to store. So my once perfectly labelled and organized craft space has become an ever changing flow of supplies looking for new homes.
One good thing about constantly moving stuff around to make room for other stuff is that I stumble upon stuff I was saving for "the perfect scrapbook page" that never happened and it usually sparks an idea for a journal page or ATC, so at least I'm using my products. . . .

I was just posting about this on Facebook the other day. I ran out of black acrylic paint and the $1.25 store (which has added a basic craft section, yay!) didn't have any, so I started rummaging around in my studio and found black gesso that...I think it was in 2013, we had an AFA event in West Seattle (waving at HHC and Mrubyjean and others) --anyway, sitting in the art room talking products about people, I ordered some black gesso from Amazon. And then I put it on a shelf and forgot about it.
And when I came across it, I was like.... "well, I was right, I did need this!"
I will be playing some, though I'm also pulling together a few swaps. Hopefully I'm finally having my gastric sleeve surgery. It could still get postponed if they lose the beds (which they can learn as late as the surgery day) but fingers crossed.
Although the surgery is almost the easy part, because then comes the post-surgery diet....to quote Charles Barkley, "it's gonna be ug-ly!"

I had a 5 bedroom house in Phoenix, as the kids moved out we made rooms into other things. So the girls' bedroom was my craft room, It was always a mess but I loved it. It was my cave.
Now in my new house there are 3 bedrooms, and 2 "bonus" rooms. My craft room has a bathroom, and a tiny bonus room. It has a twin bed, and sewing table and an elliptical machine and a gazillion still unpacked boxes. I have 2 rolling cards that have some essentials on them: marker, tape, scissors, glue, ink pads etc.
I am slowly making this my new special place.

Hello!
I will absolutely be joining this!
So excited!
As for the craft space...my bedroom is also my craft room...I am obsessed with finding new ways to store things...needless to say... trying to find things is always a challenge. lol

CQ5- I'm glad I'm not the only one who still has boxes to unpack. Of course, you've had a lot more going on since your move than I have since mine. I'm actually clearing out a TON of my craft stuff and giving it to a local school where the teachers put in a request for art supplies money and were told no. The school is for kids with emotional problems. Since I'm not using most of my craft stuff anymore, time to get rid of it. I hope those kids enjoy 100+ year old magazines and ads to cut up, scrapbook paper, jewelry making, and old postcards to art up. Seven boxes full of stuff went to them yesterday, with more to come.

Pretty proud of you ANcientPlanter for the culling and donations. I have some stuff that I thought I should hold til fall to donate to my local school. I have all kinds of kids scissors, and pencils and stuff. Never thought about art supplies. I also need to feel better before I head over to the local school. I see one school has a opening for a teachers aide. I love doing that even for free.

The first post says: Start time is Thursday morning, May 20, 2022
I'm a bit confused. It's Thursday morning here now but it's not 20th yet
. Do we start today or tomorrow?

Hello All!
I’m jez, and I’m new. I joined two weeks ago, and I’m already minorly obsessed with ATCs. Piggles suggested I should check out my first ATART/-athon. I’m unclear on the proper terminology, lol. I won’t have much time over the weekend but I did want to drop in. I’ve been doing most of my work with my weekday morning coffee, and after the rest of the house is in bed. Here’s my work top this morning. I intended to work on my bees, but I got distracted. Did somebody see a squirrel?!

Checking in
Oh, Karen, did this post ever resonate with me!
I have been fighting and loosing the organization battle for sixty-two years.
(Assuming that I didn't have too much stuff when I was under the age of five.)
Today I am moving the "stuff I use every day" from my upstairs studio
(Great light. Marvelous in fall, winter, and spring. Miserably hot June-August)
to my unfinished basement
(Artificial light, occasional spider visitors, but COOL)
If I get this task completed, I shall join in the ATHON today.....

I've never had a hobby that involved so much stuff before. I LOVE all the fun, colorful stuff, but organizing it and being able to find what I'm looking for is an ongoing challenge. My stuff collection keeps expanding and shifting.
I negotiated relocation of some non-mixed media stuff out of the closet in the guest room that now doubles as ATC central. I found a shelving unit with doors that should allow easy access but has doors that I can close so our guest room can be made to look presentable with enough advance notice. I spent a large part of last weekend relocating books and boxes and filing ephemera (bees, vintage, undersea, flowers, butterflies, "to sort")
Then the pickup of the new shelving unit fell through yesterday. My stuff is now spread all over because I had cleared the space for the new shelf. I had to quickly move some of it out of my home office this morning so I didn't look like a crazy person on a video call. Fingers crossed we get the shelving tonight so I'm able to put everything away. Are all of you constantly refining your organization and storage? I'm hoping the influx slows now that I've been through a year of seasonal themes.
I can't wait to start fussy cutting and pulling out stuff I'm going to use for the athon. My craft space won't stay clean for more that a few hours : )

I will be posting some cards later, but wanted to share what I have been doing lately...graph paper designs to color. They are done on full size graph paper. I will color them and then cut them down for ATC backgrounds. It's been fun coming up with different designs based on a grid.
