Art Magnets: The FUNKYFRIDGE Halloween Swap~Due October 3rd
Due date: October 3
Sign up/withdrawal by: None, just communicate please.
Number of pieces: 3/3
Number of players: 20
This is our 3rd installment of an old favorite: The FUNKYFRIDGE Magnet Swap. But this time, we’re doing the Halloween Edition! Please join us as we turn boring refrigerators into dazzling displays!
Please read all rules, as some have been updated a bit:
- OPEN MEDIA, (hand-drawn, collage, clay, fabric, etc.) The theme is Halloween, and all it entails: pumpkins, things creepy and dark, traditional characters like Frankenstein, Day of the Dead, curio cabinets, black cats, full moons, etc. Embellishments and dangles are A-Ok. We're making ART (not crafts), also nothing overly gory or gross, please. A little zombie brain is fine, but not Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- Use a metal base for your art vignette (lid from a Bell canning jar, Ragu, Altoid tins, frozen juice concentrate unglued-ends for example.) AFTER you receive your returns, you can affix the magnets. 3/4” ceramic magnets held with hard-core glue like E6000 work great; must be able to support some weight and STICK. See last photo for example. To be clear, do not send your art in with magnets attached. Add magnets or hangers to your returns as you wish.
- Sign your work, and wrap each piece individually, and pack them securely in a BUBBLE ENVELOPE. Include a large return address label. I will re-use the bubble envie for your returns.
- Postage: Please include the same amount of postage in $US dollars that it takes to mail the art to me (stamps, cash, PayPal or Venmo.) New to the rules: Please send art with TRACKING INFO. First-class mail is great, but be sure there is a bar code along with it (don’t just put a bunch of stamps on an envie and call it done. Let’s honor the time spent on this art by protecting it with some tracking information.) I will send your returns with tracking info.
- Show and tell: We'd love to see pics of your art in the thread. No rush jobs, please. Only put your best art forward. Host gifts or extra postage are always appreciated.
- Important Update Regarding Rep Points and iTrader: I’ve been hosting on this site for over a decade now (gulp!) and while Rep/iTraders are optional and most players graciously leave them…I just cannot condone players disregarding them. Rep/iTraders are a way to thank players and your host for all the time, energy and effort that goes into art trading. If you are unable or unwilling to leave these pieces of feedback, I kindly ask that you don’t join in the swap.
Now that we have all those pesky details out of the way, I hope you will help me raid the fridge! Private Message (PM) for my address when your magnets are ready to stick it to nannerland (in Costa Mesa.) And any misc questions you may have, please just send a PM and I’m happy to help. Examples below from previous swaps: Psycho clown from CindyJOB, Friday the 13th "nanners" from themuppet, final example is a magnet suggestion for the backside (to be added AFTER your returns arrive.)
Don’t have to ask this Halloween Honey a second time. Sign me up …Buttercup

If I comment on your work it means I'd love to trade.
Asking a question so I will be subscribed....also for the answer (lol). I know the shapes can be round, square, rectangular, etc. What about the size? I’m thinking 2 1/2” to 4” as a range.

That range sounds just fine, CiCi. Standard size jar lids, Altoid tins, frozen concentrate metal rounds...that's what we're looking for here.
